Lovely cosy pub set in the heart of the Norfolk Broads. They have some nice real ales on and extend a warm, friendly welcome to customers. I shall have to take my tent one weekend so that I can sample a few jars without worrying about driving.

Great pub, friendly and comfortable, great pint of Tipples Brewery beer, will return this Summer for a nights camping in their adjacent field. Cheers

I have just spent a weekend camping on the field by the pub. The gorgeous views of neighbouring fields and local wildlife are stunning no matter what time of day or evening.
All staff were very welcoming, chatty and helpful beyond what is usually expected. There are perfectly adequate bathrooms and a games room too.
My family went to the pub for Sunday lunch and were impressed by the prices and service again. There is a fine pudding menu!
There is something here for most people, as a camp site and pub. There is an enclosed play area and a lovely picnic table area not done justice in the picture at all. I challenge the negative comments previously added to this site, and I am very much looking forward to making a return visit.

One other thing, re the Makro comment- our menu may look as though it is straight out of Makro, (you seem to have a good knowledge of said wholesaler) but I can assure you, we serve 'pub grub', all made from scratch, on the premises. One day I shall post up a menu, if I can.

When we visited the Dog recently we could not belive the changes! Considering this pub had been badly run down by the previous landlord, the new ones have done wonders! There was no sign of ripped seating, it has all been re-upholstered. The old carpet is down still, sure, but considering the amount of money the new owners have put into it, (their own, I'm told) there must be something low on the list of 'to be dones'! As to the 'Makro' comment, by the last poster, where on Earth does he think the bulk of the goods come from, for heavens sakes? It's all well & good buying fresh goods from local sources, which I believe they were doing, but there are an awful lot of things which can't be bought in large catering-size quantities from the local shop! The food is definitely all home-made, about the only thing that isn't is the scampi, so one of the kitchen staff was telling me.
Well done Lorraine, Geoff and Naomi, this really is a truly family-run pub!

Well, in two months it must have gone downhill fast. Ok, a friendly greeting when we entered, but the all pervading smell of fried food set the alarm bells ringing straight away. This could be such a money spinner, but things like ripped sofas in the window area, carpets so worn they were repaired by gaffer tape, and a menu board that looked straight out or the Makro best selections of the week magazine made the choice easy to make to finish our one pint and chance the long walk to the Kings Arms. As we were sitting in the garden my earlier comment re: Makro was borne out, as a car pulled up to unload what was indeed the weekely supply wagon from Makro. Fresh local produce my ar*e. Anyone for Aro!!!

Pleasant pub with large outside seating area. Good choice of real ales. Didn't try the food so no comment.

We have visited this pub previously and have always found the beer well kept. Went in for a lunchtime drink with friends last Saturday for the first time since the change of ownership. The beer is still good (Winters bitter I tried) but the place is now clean, bright and the staff very friendly. If the food tastes as good as it looks and smells it should do well.

Since the pub has changed hands 2 weeks ago, the food at the dog has improved 100%, the cleanliness is of great standard, bar staff are happy and make you feel very welcome and I would say all in all the pub is now much better than you would expect so please come in and give it try I promise you will notice a huge difference. The owners are incredibly friendly and you can always expect a warm welcome in the Dog. Please keep posted on how your experience was.

We have known this pub well for the past 12 years, through it's good times and, latterly, it's bad-not surprising though, as we lived next door to it for all that time! It is a lovely pub, and could be so much more, which is why we decided to sell the family home and purchase the pub. We should hopefully be in very soon, and although there won't be many structural alterations before October, there will be a lot of 'unseen' hard work going on, including cleaning the whole place thoroughly, and keeping it clean. There are many changes to be made, hopefully to the good, and we will be taking on board any positive comments customers make. WATCH THIS SPACE!

My family and i have a boat on the norfolk broads and have visited this pub on numerous occasions during this past winter and have always been made very welcome, the barman 'Dean' is fantastic and very welcoming, we all love it, our children have been made very welcome as have we, looking forward to calling during summer

This is a very strange pub, it has a really good location and an excellent business during the summer months. Its in the heart of the Norfolk broads and does very well. However its very dirty and has no real welcome. The range of ales are good and the beer is ok, however if you go, you will have to see pass the decor and the awful toilets and the smell of stale dust and old carpets. The food is very basic and takes a while to get to you and when it does the food is less than good. But it has a good market as there is nothing around it on the broads. Think is says something tho, as out of season there are only a handful of locals who keep it going. I have heard its on the market to be sold, good luck if the new owners get it.
