Ringwood Razorback was the only ale and the only other customers were some sweary youths. Beer was drinkable but there are better pubs in Wareham.

In here last Saturday about 1.00pm and just 4 others present. This bar is quite small realy but some celing fans keep in airy. 3 hand pulls but only the 2 in use for Ringwoods Best Bitter & 49er. I go for a pint of the 49er which is very nice and cost £3.60. Some light piped music is playing in the background.

Not over impressed with the main bar area so had lunch in the side room. Food was good for choice, price and quality. Beers were okay, Hobgoblin, 49er and Ringwood Best Bitter - still £3.40 a pint.
|
A hotel bar it offered 3 real ale, tried the 49er it was a good pint and at £3.40 not bad value, the bar is fairly small but there is a outside drinking area at the back of the building.
Good prompt service from the bar staff.

Decided to give it a go, being as it was now in the Good Beer Guide. Ringwood Fortyniner was very good, and 2.80 a pint. However, this was overshadowed by the bar being occupied by what appeared to be ( in looks and behaviour) Warehams wino/dosser contingent. Twelve year old 'barman' oblivious or ignoring the fact that they were upsetting customers, including us, who had to resort to telling one of their number to s@# off. Glanced through window while passing a day or so later. Same crowd still there. CAMRA will be informed...

Lots of interesting little rooms. Beer good.

quite a big hotel , great food and the staff were really helpful and had a good sense of humour. i stayed there with my wife and kids and the rooms were well decorated and low priced, the lagers and ales were exceptionally good and the fosters went down to 2.50 a pint. one thing that was a bit weird was that one of the bar staff had a council haircut and looked like frankenstein.

Grand Hotel, full of character, and charm. All the staff were very charming and helpful. Met some locals which kept my husband and myself entertained while enjoying our drinks, my husband enjoyed a pint of their quest ale which was 'Sweet Chariot'. Can tell the ales are well kept in this hotel, because it was full of flavour. The landlady showed me, her newly refurbed rooms which were spectacular, the rooms are all en-suite, some with four poster beds, and all different colours. Well worth a visit.

This place could be good but groan what a disappointment. We went in on a very busy wet Sunday. The pub is in the Good Beer Guide. Two youngsters wearing black shirts behind the bar - never a good sign.
Took the only available table not covered in people's half-left meals - near the window but close to a loudspeaker playing very loud radio / adverts. i asked the barman to please turn it down. Five mins later still blaring in our ear so I just turned the set off at the mains. Ringwood Best bitter so cold that I left half of it.
I haven't been in here for 20 years or more - it will be probably that long again. There are better pubs in Wareham. A generous 5 / 10 this time.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon on a baking hot day and this proved to be an excellent, cool watering hole. The Ringwood Bitter proved to be average, but thats the beer. Also on were Ringwood Thumper and Wychwood Hobgoblin. Lovely old building with a great range in Bar snacks including a great cheddar. Wood pannelling and aged furniture, we spent a lovely hour in there.
|
@loiner8 - Maybe the Thumper went to your head a little... what is a Ringwood Badger??? Two breweries, not a beer mate.

Please ignore my review about the rude manager, as this all took place in The Duke of Wellington. The Black Bear continues to thrive on a sound reputation among the local population.

Customer Relations Don't complain about the beer!
The manager was extremely defensive and quite rude when I was insistent that the Abbott Ale had an unpleasant aftertaste. To be told that it was a fresh barrel that morning and that no one else had complained did nothing to address my dissatisfaction, as I had already ordered and paid for replacement glasses of Ringwood which was excellent. As one who lives in the town and who comes to this pub quite often, I was quite let down. A drink in a pub these days represents extremely poor value for money compared with a bottle of wine at home and it seems reasonable for a customer's comments to be listened to and taken on board in a less aggressive manner. The beer in the nearby Kings Arms is considerably cheaper and the food in the Kings Arms at Stoborough is in a different class to that served in this establishment.

called in for lunch whilst on holiday last week did a lot of eating out and this was the top of the tree excelent from walking in to walking out a nice pint of ringwood old thumper was followed by a lovely meal a query on a type of fish on the specials board was expertly answerwed by the efficiant team of staff the lamb rump was cooked to perfection and my partners shellfish pasta was a heaving mussel and clam filled bowl and what a loveley hotel as well a large beer garden at the back was a nice way to end our visit with a good pint of ringwood badger

Looks good on the outside but did not venture inside.

A nice old building, which is located at the bottom of the town. All the staff are friendly and make you feel welcome. The landlady seemed to be very pleasent and was also friendly to myself and my other half. Had a lovly meal which tasted great and also looked it. There is also a pool table now at the back and some darts boards. This hotel will be scoring highly from me.
|
Very lovely Hotel, the food is great and cooked the way you like it. The landlord and landlady are very pleasent. This hotel has a selection of lovely rooms available to stay it.There is also a great selection of tasty ales here, which always taste nice. I recommened a visit because it is well worth it.
|
Nice for a drink as this place has bags of character and good ale. New owner/manager seems like a decent bloke.
This place has a lot of potential as a hotel but it is very run down and in serious need of a refurb. Rooms are not so much dirty as just f****ed. Hopefully a refit will be sooner rather than later as it would get a much higher rating.
|
For accommodation; The welcome was warm and the staff helpful but our room was shabby with peeling paint. The owners have only been there 6 months and promise a refurb. It doesn't have its own parking and the roads around are all limited to one hour during the day, or else you pay in a car park.Good central location.

Very friendly ,in an interesting building.Three ales on,which can be served a bit too cold but for service alone worth a high score.
|
Great pub with excellent service. Excellent food from a frequently changed menu. A highlight of Wareham!
|
lovely pub, lots of rooms - seems to go on for miles - always good service
|
Lovely rambling old place.
|
This is a surprisingly large pub with an impressive frontage in the centre of Wareham. Accommodation is very reasonably priced, adequate and comfortable. Rooms are serviced daily. A very friendly welcome awaits accomapanied by good beers, wines, an extensive menu and traditional surroundings including 2 dining rooms, bar, lounge, conservatory & garden. Excellent hospitality.
