please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Visited whilst heading north on the A1, easy to miss so slow down and look out for the brown signs just north of Stamford.
Very quiet on my visit, although it was tea-time. The pub has two large rooms, one which serves as the lounge area including pool table, whislt the other appears to serve as a retaurant which was closed.
Nice looking pub, albeit a little large when empty. the wood/coal burning fire however was very welcoming, the landlord very friendly and the Blue Cow Bitter, very nice.
Like many pubs just off the A1, they are usually passed at 70mph, but slow down and take time to stop at this one if you a fancy a decent pint in an historic old pub.

We received a warm welcome from both the manager and the owner and were treated to stories of the history of the pub. They brew their own beer here and I reckon it is pretty good. The food wasn't bad either although our teenage daughter chose a risotto which left her still hungry. All in all a very nice place.

First visited two years ago. Stopped off on our way home on Sunday. Not disappointed. Two excellent ales offered. The roast was as memorable as before and the service was excellent, staff friendly. Still a gem of a 'real' pub!

Visited here for the first time on Sunday, when half a dozen tandems descended on it! We'd booked, and were made especially welcome. Excellent service, tasty beer [particularly the Wobbler]and an excellent carvery - at only 7 a head. Recommended.

Had the pleasure of visiting and staying at the Blue Cow in July, on my way to North Yorkshire. The accomodation was, clean and tidy, if somewhat basic. The Landlord and staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The two beers, Best and Wobbler were good value and tasty, and are brewed on the premises and the food was good value with a wide choice and good portions forthcoming. Broen tourist signs on the A1 advertise the Pub. Go visit. far better that a Little Chef or McDonalds!

This is a tardy review of the Blue Cow. My wife and I were there in 4/06 while she was doing some research in the area for a book. Stayed in the B&B which was more than adequate accomodation. The beers were great especially the Witham Wobbler. Recommended it to Steve at my old local, the Wenlock Arms, in London which serves a fine array of beers from across the country. Simon, the owner and landlord, was outgoing and a fine conversationalist and the overall atmosphere was that of a good country local. Several meals we had there were of good quality. We were sad that we did not have the time to return over Christmas when we were back visiting England. We will get back sometime though. The Blue Cow is well worth the short side trip off of the highway. Oh, Simon was working on a great children's story about a frog; it was based on a night-time story he had told his daughter Samantha over the years. Please make time for a visit.

Needed food after travelling south down the A1 on a Sunday. Took pot luck and saw the sign for the Blue Cow.What a gem!
Good real ale,old pub with character and a friendly landlord who, despite saying he was knackered, was excellent.
I can honestly say this was the best Sunday roast I've had in a pub for a couple of years.Good value at 9 for two courses.
First pub I've ever given 10/10!
