Always popular... mix of everything really... locals, sport on TV, tourists, but always nice place for a few beers... Star ⭐️ of the show for me last visit (March 2025) was Canny Canuck Maple Brown Ale From the Blaydon brewery.. I love brown ale, but not often it’s on hand pull...

Traditional pub (certainly the only pub I've been in with a stuffed Border Collie on the wall!) with a decent range of beers.. Allendale Brewery Fermata and Golden Plover, along with a Tyne Bank February special Scotch ale (on the lines of 80 shilling, wee heavy etc...). Also Guiness West Indies Porter on draught and a couple of good ciders (Rosies Pig being one...). Friendly locals. I had never visited Tynemouth, but found it a really nice place... Go for a walk on Longsands beach as well...

Quiet on a Tuesday afternoon, nice surroundings and did like the dog.
Beer - Thwaites Wainwright was only average though.

A decent pub with well kept ales.

Quiet during my visit on a wednesday night, but the experience was positive. A welcoming, white tiled exterior opened onto a Wooden floor leading to a well stocked bar with a choice of four or five real ales. Yes, four of these were larger brands such as Bombardier and Courage, but the pint of Houston Peter's Well I had was well kept and decent value. The stuffed Border Collie in a glass case adds interest. Whilst I cannot really comment on the other pubs in Tynemouth, this place is in a superb position near the castle and is certainly worth a visit if you find yourself here.

Was that popular I couldn't get in the door!

Homely pub with lots of character and friendly staff. Good range of real ales and food that was excellent value.

Arguably Tyemouth's best trad pub. Front area - where the big TV screens spoil the effect a bit - gets a bit over-blokey. Best to slip down the side to the cosy rear bar. Good choice of real ales on draught and in bottles. Music can get a bit intrusive sometimes. Known locally as the 'Stuffed Dog' due to the presence of said canine in a glass cabinet set into the wall. Story goes it was the pet of a regualr many years ago. How much character do you want?

A small local pub which tends to become very busy and thus overcrowded. However the real ales on offer are excellent, especially at Christmas. A nice pint of Roasted Nuts for only 2.06, accompanied by friends and a great plasma screen TV for the boxing day football, perfect.
