Friendly barman, main bar, darts room, smoking area at the rear. No sign of diners and menus just drinkers. On our 2 visits I had Hobsob's Town crier, a good ale.

Lovely little pub on a narrow but busy street. It's officially the High Street. But it's by no means the town's main street. There are a number of different drinking/dining areas. As Snarling Mallard says, many seemed to be taken by diners. Apparently they're famous for their pies and they did look fairly large. Hobson's Twisted Spire & Town Crier are the standard ales. The guest was Wye Valley Butty Bach. Another pub where the bar staffs' mathematics skills appear a little challenged.

the beer is good quality (had one of the hobson's brews) but all tables were 'reserved' for diners (be they actual or imaginary).

More of a restaurant than a pub, the pint of Hobson's Town Crier was quite nice.

Lovely 15th century inn. Very welcoming. Has built up a reputation for beer and pies.
Hobsons and St Austell tried. Both decent.

Good pub. Plenty of character. Decent pint of ale, including Hobsons and St Austell.

Benefited from a fine tasting pint of Worcestershire Way from Bewdley Brewery, which is virtually next door. Some other ales from independents also on offer. Quaint and historic inn with a few nooks and crannies, that offers consistently good quality food. A bit quiet of a Friday lunchtime but well worth a visit, basically.

Visited with full troupe of wife, small child and dog. Received and warm and genuine welcome from the landlord. The interior is interesting Food good - especially the desperate dan pie, all home made. Beer from Bewdley Brewery top drawer - just round the corner where you can purchase by the bottle. A good 8!

Called in here for a quick pint while the wife went shopping. Going in the door marked Surgery threw me for a second but what a delightful pub inside. Not as small as you first see as it spreads into more rooms. Two beers on(I was sure I read it was 3-4) had a half of each, both well kept the Rev James being my fav.

Home to the Greatest Pie On Earth, the Desperate Dan. Great beer, great atmosphere, all the food is superb, & the landlord is a diamond. Can't say much more than that really!

Lovely, small. pub, very traditional feel but smart and well-kept. Certainly not 'spit and sawdust' any more. All low beams and wood panels. It has a very good reputation for food and as such booking is advised (see below). Was only able to get a table outside on the decking- not a bad thing on a lovely summer's day, considering the plesant rooftop view. Lasagne was excellent, and the large portion represented great value. A good selection of ales to complement this, Black Sheep and 2-3 guests sourced from local breweries- all in top form. Service excellent. It's out of the way of the town centre- maybe a good thing. Featured in the Good Pub Guide and no surprise, this pub is well worth going out of your way for.

Wandered into this amazing venue on Saturday evening after spending some time in the Wyre Forest. Was suffering a headache so decided against beer, which was a shame as there was a good selection of pastuerised pints and REAL ALES! We asked about a table but told that it was always book in advance on Saturdays, however the Gods smiled on my date and I and there was a cancellation. What can I say? This small hard to find pub produced better quality more imaginative food than I've experienced anywhere for a long time. Beats all the restaurants in Birmingham hands down. If you want somewhere for amazing food and a quaint/cosy atmosphere, this is THE place to go. Will definately go back here and I've got to drive from the north side of Birmingham to get here, in my opinion, will be well worth the 50 mile round trip! Would have given it a possible 10/10 if i'd have been able to try the beers. AMAZING!

Needs a bit of effort to find, no pub sign either. Its worth discovering though with Black Sheep and a guest on (Rev James on this occassion). Food looked good. Snug inside, modernised without spoiling the character. Outside space is limited.

Former Mad O'Rourkes pub synonymous with top pub grub, good ales and a spit and sawdust environment
