A much improved pub over the past fews leading me to making a fresh comment. A great friendly community pub. clean and tidy, friendly local. lots of sport tv. pub teams I.e. darts, pool, dominoes and bagatelle. Quiz nights etc. Good prices and offers, serving cask ale too.

A decent pint of Marston's "5 Hops"(2.50) was destroyed when I visited last month for first time, a fairly reasonable street corner local, 6/10

Its all change at the Spital Vaults. New Landlord Mark very friendly eager to please. The pub has had a much need makerover with bright new decor, but most of all its CLEAN. Unfortunately the loos need some attention. A good back street boozer reliant on regulars as of the beaten track. A Jennings house with 3 casks ale. Outdoor smoking area, pool table, bagatelle table, dart board, jukebox. NO SKY TV. Worth a look, and important to support this local bolthole.

Used to be a great back street boozer. The present incumbant promised real cask ales, of late the have been very few and for a fortnight non at all. The pub seems to have lost its army of hardened drinkers and is generally fun of loud mouths yobs constantly swearing the "ladies" generally seem to be the worst. The bar staff are unattentive and are usual outside smoking or playing with the punters. whats happened to the decor in do not know. alas another pub i will avoid.

Heard that the pub had changed hands so went for a look. Seemed to be just the same to me, but a lot emptier than I remember. A couple of studenty types playing pool, badly, and swearing a lot, again badly. Beer was ok but not much of a welcome. Not a family pub and I certainly wouldn't take my wife. On the plus side there was a great choice of where to sit and it isn't too far from my usual drinking hole- just had the one and went back to my local, I reckon it will be a long time before I trouble the staff at the Spital again.

The pub looked nice from outside. When we opened the door, we were met by a fog of cigarette smoke and a pool table in the middle of the lounge. (A bad start). There were a few locals sitting around the room shouting at Man Utd on the tv. They looked like care in the community types. We went into the back room to be confronted by another huge games table (Bagatelle ??) and a darts board. There was an 8ft florescent light in the ceiling, which would be nice in the evening. The beer was good so all was not lost, I would not go back to this pub, it reminded me of a bad YMCA from the 70s.
