A dire waste of a great building and great location. Supposedly a freehouse, two ales were off on a busy summer Saturday and only the egregious Doom Bar on. The furnishings are as awful as those in the nearby Pilot Boat Inn and if the terrace is a nice spot, slow service and mediocre food complete the picture.

Don't be put off by the scruffy appearance outside. The inside is nicely decorated and clean, mainly set for diners. They also have a nice terrace overlooking the sea. The food was good, mostly fish, but a selection of other dishes. The Doombar was in good condition and Shandychica said the shandy was fine. The staff were welcoming as well. Can't speak for the evenings, but would certainly return for lunch.

I agree with the previous coment, as we went in for coffee whilst waiting for the bus with a view to returning for a pint on completion of our walk back from Seaton. The guy serving was clearly put out by serving us and unfriendly. We didnt return and instead had a nice drink at the Harbour Inn.

Staff not only unwelcoming but rude

this pub could have so much potential, shame the young manager had such a bad attitude!! especially toward certain locals and tourists!

Good position by Lyme bay. We got a good seat outside on a glorious late summer evening. Stella was a good pint (it always is!). As we were leaving it was getting busy inside, I think this is a local for the youngsters so we drank up and left. Great outside though 8/10

Excellent position and views over the bay but sadly a shabby run down pub - only one draft ale and the food was abysmal
|
Nice views of Lyme bay from the terrace, but you can get the same views by sitting on the wall just outside. As a pub it is pretty nondescript. Once again the service can only be described as poor and the beer no better.

Unremarkable, scruffy, fairly unfriendly.

We really like this pub. It is just about handy for everything. Great location nice beer terrace with great views. I agree that the interior is pretty awful but the drinks were cheaper than many other of the pubs in lyme.
8/10

as everyone else said, A prime location but the pub itself was shabby

Stumbled across this pub by accident as it's attached to a chip shop. We thought the terrace garden was actually for the chip shop as it uses the same furniture and is on the same level, genuine mistake - must happen all the time as a male staff member said it was ok to eat chips there as long as we brought drinks from the bar. Inside, the bar seemed clean and modern. The drinks I had were average - a bit pricey, probably due to the lovely seafront location. Somewhat taken aback when a female member of staff suddenly appears and gives my wife and I a proper dressing down about eating our food there. How embarrassing - especially after buying their overpriced liquids on the proviso it was ok. Binned lunch, left drinks - won't be going back!

Has been smartened up inside since my last visit. Has huge windows through which to enjoy the view over Lyme Bay. Much less touristy than youd expect from its stunning location: very much a locals pub.
|
Three storied corner pub, with white exterior, black paintwork, arched windows and with beer patios.
The interior was open plan and modern, though it did have darts and a pool table. The decor was light beige and dark beige panel, with arty pictures on the walls, along with a lot of sport memorabilia. There was also Sky TV. Service was ok and the clientele small.
Beer; usual tap stuff, with Sharpe's Doombar and Own on handpull. I had never tried the own and had to go and try it elsewhere after as my quick half was poor.
Not my kind of interior and poorly kept beer, sorry, not for me

Sit at one end and you can watch the tourists and shoppers go by, sit at the other end and a large window overlooks the bay towards Charmouth. It is a bit of a local's bar but we had a warm welcome. The best part of this pub? - it's not a Palmers house (like most of Lyme Regis) - the Sharp's IPA and Cornish Coaster were spot-on.

Nice situation for sitting in the beer garden and watching the sea. Otherwise hardly worth the effort of going to.
|
Bit basic but staff helpful, beer passable. Nice location.
|
Noisy and full of kids.
|
No local scum in evidence on my visit, just a happy mix of tourists, some young blokes playing darts and a wedding party. Great location looking out across the bay.
|
Not the sort of pub for elderly day trippers to Lyme. In all honesty it's a bit of a hole, full of drunken kids shouting and swearing at each other and anyone else. Not exactly nasty or threatening (just drunken farmer's boys), but not the sort of thing you want while on a quiet weekend away.

Nice location, and quite a nice interior, but the customers? this pub relly attracts the Lyme low life. Best avoided

Wonderful location and promising looking facade. Interior OK if you like that sort of thing - more wine bar than pub. Does not appear to sell cask beer, only pressurised beer of the sort that has to be advertised to sell and various foreign lagers, served from those curious chrome manifolds that modern hotels seem to use. So if you don't drink beer you might like this place a lot, but if you do, you may not. Are not pubs supposed to sell beer though?

This is a great place for a pint and to watch the football.
