New couple have been running the pub for a year now and are doing very well, the pub is now bright, clean and warm good to see it has customers once again. Good ales, usually a choice of four, good food, but do book ahead if you want Sunday roast as it gets very oversubscribed.

Light and bright with the lingering smell of a recent paint job, this pub has the hallmarks of 'contemporary' pubs around the country, however the beer (Charles Wells/Dogfish Head DNA New World IPA) was top-notch - was one of the best pints I've had recently - and the place was busy with drinkers and diners for a Wednesday night. Also spotted the rarity of Japenese lager Kirin on tap. Place was clean and tidy, both inside and out, and there were like-minded nods to the past with the dartboard and metal oche line with the pub name on it which stood out from the wooden floor. The child wandering behind the bar may not have been to everyone's taste though.

New people now running the pub, very good landlords, shame they are only temporary. Now fully stocked, Yongs beer Gold and Special both superb + Bombardier. Pub is picking up again pub grub now being served and a few events at weekends, check out the website. Well worth visiting again.

Avoid this pub, went there for a darts match last night, the landlord was surly and the pub was freezing cold. I don't know what is going on but they seem to have no stock. I had an awful pint of Doombar on arrival, that ran out, which left them with NO ale, they had also run out of Guinness, Youngs special, IPA, Directors, and had no cider. Apart form the darts players and a couple of the landlords mates the pub was unsurprisingly, DEAD.

Scotch that last comment - that was the Chequers pub which I notice is not on BITE.
This is a good community pub with 3 ales - can't remember 2 of them because I stuck with Youngs Special which was very nice. Good beer garden in front of pub.

I would like to rate this pub properly but I never went in it on this occasion - the weather was warm & the beer was bought out to us - I had London Pride which was excellent & one of my friends commented on how good the Black Sheep was.

Found this gem by chance. Best steak & kidney pud I've ever had !! Liver & bacon also highly recommended. Very reasonable prices, & good assorted menu. Will certainly go back, when next in the area.

Nice to visit a pub and restaurant that does not stir up contoversy like the Wendover area. Very pleasant, I will be trying the Aston Clinton area soon.

Not a bad pub , good beer, have had a few meals here have been good, sunday lunch very good I belive they now do shell fish over the bar this could now prove to be a good watering spot if the fish is good will try it soon.

One of the better village pubs close to the mighty metropolis. It won't rock your world, but well worth a visit.

I had not expected that much of this pub for some reason, but on entering I was very surprised by the quality (and choice) of beer on offer, the friendliness of the staff and the food wasn't bad either. Essentially a traditional local, at some point knocked through into one bar, but it divides itself up naturally into public and saloon. Worth a visit if you are in the area.
