New couple have been running the pub for a year now and are doing very well, the pub is now bright, clean and warm good to see it has customers once again. Good ales, usually a choice of four, good food, but do book ahead if you want Sunday roast as it gets very oversubscribed. economist - 18 Mar 2015 12:26 |
Light and bright with the lingering smell of a recent paint job, this pub has the hallmarks of 'contemporary' pubs around the country, however the beer (Charles Wells/Dogfish Head DNA New World IPA) was top-notch - was one of the best pints I've had recently - and the place was busy with drinkers and diners for a Wednesday night. Also spotted the rarity of Japenese lager Kirin on tap. Place was clean and tidy, both inside and out, and there were like-minded nods to the past with the dartboard and metal oche line with the pub name on it which stood out from the wooden floor. The child wandering behind the bar may not have been to everyone's taste though. Komakino - 20 Feb 2014 12:14 |
New people now running the pub, very good landlords, shame they are only temporary. Now fully stocked, Yongs beer Gold and Special both superb + Bombardier. Pub is picking up again pub grub now being served and a few events at weekends, check out the website. Well worth visiting again. economist - 30 May 2012 10:10 |
Avoid this pub, went there for a darts match last night, the landlord was surly and the pub was freezing cold. I don't know what is going on but they seem to have no stock. I had an awful pint of Doombar on arrival, that ran out, which left them with NO ale, they had also run out of Guinness, Youngs special, IPA, Directors, and had no cider. Apart form the darts players and a couple of the landlords mates the pub was unsurprisingly, DEAD. economist - 3 Feb 2012 06:37 |
Scotch that last comment - that was the Chequers pub which I notice is not on BITE. This is a good community pub with 3 ales - can't remember 2 of them because I stuck with Youngs Special which was very nice. Good beer garden in front of pub. Booze_Allen - 29 Jul 2011 15:10 |
