Very much a food pub with a number of rooms set out in Bistro style. Timothy Taylor Golden Best available.

It's a great little pub in the centre of Leyburn. The Irish landlord is a right character and very friendly & helpful. The food is very good pub food, big portions and well priced. We were staying just outside Leyburn for a week and we went back here three times for food. Would recommend it.

A fairly nice pub overlooking the Market Square in Leyburn. There are several separate drinking areas. The tiled front room was quite atmospheric and features a wood burner. Timothy Taylor Landlord, John Smiths and Black Sheep Best Bitter were the real ales. Ok, but I preferred the Bolton Arms in Downholme (not the Redmire one) for food and the Cross Keys in Bellerby for a real pub atmosphere with decent ciders and ales, including beers from the Wensleydale brewery. This latter pub was my favourite of the day. I'll request for it to be added and will see if it appears one day!

I'm not sure what people are talking about, but things seem to have changed since 2006. Friendly landlord, very obliging (Scottish I think he was). Food was excellent for what it was, which was simply, hearty and reasonably priced pub grub. John Smith's Cask was on excellent form. Interior was very nice, although the industrial steel tables outside are a weird touch.

The Black Swan in MIddleham is an excellent Inn, with wonderful food, and comfortable rooms. The Black Swan in Leyburn is an entirely different Inn to the Black Swan in Middleham, and is 3 miles away. These 2 Inns are being confused by beerintheevening.

Dreadful, dreadful pub...Dont under any circumstances stay there. Surly staff, will not lift a finger to assist with luggage, TV fixed in position just out of reach of plug socket, Breakfast was inedible, at the start of my holiday they did'nt have a record of my booking, at the end they told me I had'nt paid, horrible, horrible place!!!!

Only visit this pub if you are after a drink in a lively atmosphere as on my last visit. On no account eat here as the food is dreadful. We were sat in the "non smoking area" when 4 people sat at a nearby table lit up. I was thinking of complaining but when the manager scrounged a cigarette from one of them couldn't see the point.
