I worked in this pub decorating for a weekend back in the very early 80s . I worked there with a chap called Jack Gallagher nice old boy wasn't afraid of nothing until we worked in this pub I thought you was going to die on me it was the most amazing experience of my life seeing doors open close on their own switches going off and on and the man stood in the doorway near the stairs watching us. It was frightening but what an experience such a friendly place

I would like for new patrons to review this Pub but can only comment on lunchtimes. I have been a regular for 3 years now and am retired. I find this pub a very useful local. Socially it is more than acceptable and a great Pub for sorting out the world. Particularly for the geriatric brigade. It reminds me of Rankin's "OX". The real lacking is another real ale.

The garden is kept nice in the summer, its ok for a pint after work.

Local pub, as mentioned earlier you will either love it or hate it. Two decent tv screens but the place is a tad run down.
Highlight is definitely the food, serve some great indian grub for decent price.

Old, tired and very tatty, interior colour of choice nicotine yellow. Could be a decent boozer with a bit of effort, but it looks like the heart of the place was ripped out long ago.
A couple of ales on, and my Spitfire was surprisingly good given what I was expecting.
Apparently has a function room and a beer garden. I didn't hang around long enough to check them out though and they will have to remain a mystery cos I'm not going back.

Funny pub - you'll either love it.... nah, everyone hates it really.
The staff are funny - but they don't try to be. The locals are funny - but they don't try to be. The Sunday Karaoke (man with a keyboard) is funny, but he doesnt try to be...
It's great - don't dress up, don't expect to pull, don't go if you don't smoke, don't expect too much and you've got The DA!
Great for a Sunday afternoon session.

Small 'local' pub, with large screen in Tv area at rear for watching the sport. (Usually very smokey). Some nights live music/or singer. No doubt frequented by staff from the ladies prison 200yds away. (No chance of a lock-in then..!)? TJ
