Excellent service, great food and free wifi. Very nice pub. Thwaites bomber was very good....

Having been fobbed off in The Buck Inn, the different attitude in here was very welcoming. First rate bar and table service, good food if a little pricey and nice beers from Thwaites. We are rather glad we arrived early on a Friday night because there was a scramble for tables fairly soon after.

This was very welcome after some scrambling nearby. The full Thwaites range on offer and the one I tried was well kept. Quiet and comfortable rooms. Good place for a jar.

A warm little place perfect for the papers and a jar of something nice after a hike around the countryside. Scoff a bit on the costly side but very nice all the same. Beers were plentiful and exciting - Kaltenburg Weissbier, a Thwaites and some that I cannot work out from my beermat scrawlings. What I do recall is that I was extremely pleased with each of the choices on offer and the suggestion is that they change fairly frequently with a good mix of local and not-so-local.

Great location for a hard earned pint after some outdoors activity. Nice old stone pub in part of a small hotel, which does give it a slightly corporate feel. Efficient but not particularly warm welcome. Good range of Thwaites ales. Busier and nicer atmosphere than the Buck Inn across the way.

I sampled all four ales at the weekend - thought the Lancaster Bomber was the best and the Wainwright's was a bit too cold. Steak and ale pie was splendid - just what I needed after a ten mile walk. Bit lacking in pub atmosphere though - feels more like drinking in the bar of a hotel.

The only bad thing I can say about this place is that it is now a Thwaites pub rather than a free house. Having said that, there was a choice of four real ales all in excellent condition. A blackboard on the wall gives a description of each beer. It is a tidy well kept pub with good food and the rooms are clean and reasonably priced at 80 per night. Across the bridge is the Buck Inn which also has a good range of beers. Malham is a pretty village in the south dales with limestone walls and good walks. Visitors to the pubs tend to be hikers. A well earned 7/10.

Now a Thwaites house, but still rates highly. Good range of beer, good atmos, and food excellent. Far better than the Buck over the other side of the village.

Beautiful pub with excellent ales (Timothy Taylors, Deuchars and a 6% porter-style ale that for some reason I can't recaLL the name of), cider, perry and tabby cats. They even gave us 2 replacement pints when we spilled ours on the floor by accidentally knocking a table over. Food was good and portions huge...only draw back is it's a little pricy.

Classic stone pub and hotel in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Great for walking with good quality, reasonably priced overnight accommodation. Home cooked food and good mix of bars and dining areas in which to relax. Excellent range of real ales - up to 5 available in summer - Black Sheep, Deuchars, Nick Hambleton Ales, Tim Taylors, and Eccleshall. Beer range changes. Landlord clearly knows how to keep a good cellar. Friendly bar and restaurant staff.
