My wife and i have eaten here on three occasions, once with a friend from a local radio station and enjoyed the food. Unfortunately on our last visit with my brother and his wife from wales the experience was somewhat different. After a drive of 45 minutes from Blackpool we arrived 5 mins early and ordered a drink, after about an hour our order was eventually taken by Elaine. After another extended wait we were shown to our table and eventualy our food arrived(now turned 9.00pm, we arrived at 7.30)The food was not up to normal standards and the service was poor, We were told that the delay was because one member of the party had ordered chicken, I run a hotel and know how long a chicken breast takes to cook(not an hour)This was the only excuse offered. My wife sent a letter which was not acknowledged. Brian you need to try harder

While I was on holiday recently, I had an excellent meal one evening. It was great to have meat that had been properly hung, and not served far too early! The only real ale on tap was Black Sheep, the other pump having run out.

Although something of a local pub for us we went here for the first time a couple of evenings ago and were suitably impressed. It's old fashioned but comfortable with a nice atmosphere for chatting. The much lauded food certainly met expectations. The Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pud which Gordon Ramsey claims is the best in the country was excellent. The Yorkshire Puds were fluffy and the famous gravy was very tasty. The fish cake starter was good also, although the selection of sweets, if we had had room didn't do much to appeal.

Their campaign for real gravy has been a huge success.

Good find on the road from Lancaster to Kirkby Lonsdale, about 7 miles from the M6. From conversations in the bar, it would seem to be more food based at the weekends. No food on Mondays, should you want a meal! I had a good pint of Black Sheep.
