That's the spirit.
Now we know that it's not likely to re-open as a pub, or as a pie and mash shop, for that matter.

A good place to go if a band was playing, but lifeless when there was no entertainment. Horrible beer and very expensive, it used to be fairly well frequented. But,alas, people just drifted away over time due to a weird lack of atmosphere.

Closed and boarded up

A real turn around thanks to new landlord . . . live music starting again in bar and in newly refurbished function room. Clean pipes, good atmosphere, open fire, what more do you need?

Granted, the Greyhound is not most "civilised" folks' idea of a decent pub; the Shepherd Neame ales are surprisingly well-kept, but you're lucky to find any on. It has loud music, and the punters are wont to get somewhat more inebriated than is expected, and sing along with either karaoke or the local live act very badly. BUT, sometimes a bit of grit and grime is required, and if you're fairly open-minded and are up for an intriguing and entertaining evening of genuine salt o' the earth character, then look no further! The landlord is incorrigable but when you get to know him strangely likeable too, and he and his wife have worked hard to make it a success (it's one of the busiest pubs around on Saturdays), partly through realising that there's no point turning a pub like that into a poncy eaterie and connoisseur's ale house. They pitch themselves wholeheartedly at a working class market and it's all the more honest for that. No pretence, just a good knees-up. And in my experience, there has never been any violence. Depending on what you want out of a boozer and what mood you're in, this one will be worth the occasional punt.

Narrowly pips The Garland at the post to take the title of "most depressing pub in Redhill" and could be put forward as a county contender. Last time I was there a group of frighteningly hideous middle-aged women spent ten minutes standing on the tables outside dropping their pants and mooning at the traffic passing on the Brighton Road.
Classy.

Skin drank a pint of my wee in here for 50p one night and my brother welched on the payment. Oh the 80's

Since the worst landlady in the world done a runner the pub is fantastic ! The new landlord and landlady are both young and friendly. There is always something going on at the weekend in the way of live bands and they have a great ladies darts team, the A and B darts team who are mixed and an A and B pool team. They have also been voted the busiest shepheard and neame pub in redhill and reigate. Go along and join in the atmosphere.

This pub is a great local pub for the people that appreciate good music and good beer. I have enjoyed coming to this pub as it has a friendly local atmosphere and a feeling of welcome
