Wonderful old traditional pub with new landlord, friendly welcome, good selection of ales and good selection of very tasty cooked bar meals. Far and away the best pub on a 'crawl' of Whitchurch & Pangbourne.

Have been here a couple of times and really recommend it. Atmospheric pub with nice interior and friendly owner/barman. Food very enjoyable.

A cosy, low ceilinged Inn where you are warmed by an open fire. The beers and lagers are fresh and well kept. Available ales when I visited were Black Sheep and Spitfire with Timothy Taylor incoming. I had some Stella which was crisp and clean. The food is simple pub grub; I chose ham, egg and chips which was delicious. I was served quickly and it was priced reasonably at 6.95. The pub is quiet enough to talk easily and the new publicans are welcoming and friendly. I will be returning.

The rather drab bar area fails to live up to the promise of the nice traditional exterior. Brains Rev James and Jennings Cumberland made for a rather odd 'long distance' beer selection. Food looked OK from what we saw. Good toilets in new block at rear. Plain but adequate garden.

Lovely walk from goring.... This is my first oasis for refreshment. Opened the door, warm welcome but I am the only punter..... Had a quick pint in the garden but felt a bit awkward to eat there. A nice pub, but it wont survive unless people go there.

This pub reflects the change in Pangbourne and Whitchurch. It serves excellent food, has excellent staff and a very warm atmosphere. The pizzas are great.

Forgot to mention the food! I had my family visiting from Ireland and arranged with the landlady for a booking of 10, she was more than happy to help and I think between us we had just about everything on the menu! Definately recommend Steak and ale pie and the lasagne!!!

A truely delightful pub, very warm welcome from all the family. Good ale and glass of red what more could you want from a pub?

Time has moved on since my last comment and things have got a lot better. On top of the earlier mentioned upgrades, the toilets have now been done, no more smell and now hot water to wash your hands. The garden now has a lawn, is a lot bigger and new furniture. There is even an oversized chess set on one table if you want to play when drinking. Outside, has all been decorated and there is a new sign - it now looks loved. There is now a small room to the right of the pub which will soon be opened to the public - it will be called the "Snug", so that should give you an idea what it will be like. The kitchen has now been done, all that is missing is the cooker. That should be in within a couple of days, so a full menu is just around the corner. It just keeps getting better.

New landlord been in for a month, the interior has been decorated, new curtains, cushions and pictures, a 100%improvement and there are more improvements to come, i.e. toilets refurb and the beer garden being made over. When it comes to real ale, there are now usually three good, well kept ales on all the time (today London Pride, Spitfire and Old Speckled Hen - there is Doombar and Old Hookey ready to go). Other people had reported warm beer, that is rectified, the chiller for the cellar had been playing up for years - it now works well. At the moment they only do sandwiches for food but will start to do full meals when the kitchen is replaced

Popped in here for a swift pint during a walk. Bit of a shabby place but quite friendly. Charles Wells Bombardier was all they had on and it wasn't the best pint I've tasted.

Maybe I'm getting old but this is the sort of pub that I enjoy going to. Decent real ale, food looks simple but good and plentiful (Not eaten here though). Just a good place to go for a drink and to socialise.

The beer was on the gravity hooray, it was very warm oh dear, go when it's 12 degrees outside.

From Pangbourne was the river, then the Ferryman pub & then the Greyhound. Somewhat less cramped than the former but more busy and looked rather pretty outside. 3 ales on tap of which one was Bombardier and the other a Youngs beer. We asked for the former and the lady disappeared - ah! perhaps this is on gravity - it was! Unfortunately it was a warm day and without any form of cooling in the cellar (or wherever she got it from) it warm - too warm. My advice is to avoid hot days.

Nice pub and a decent pint of Youngs special. Has some charactrful seating in the front windows and made a relaxing stop whilst on the Thames walk.

Lovely pub - decent beer and pleasant staff in a very picturesque village on the Thames. Popped in on a Monday night and it seemed to be a hive of village life. Extensive menu with over forty dishes, ranging from good sandwiches to steaks and the renowned "Prawn Hoagie". Recommended.
