please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Three of us ate there on Boxing Day. Excellent pint of Potholer.

Pretty busy but the staff coped well and our lunch was served 15 minutes after we ordered. I had the fish pie - highly reccomended. The steak pie was also very tasty; packed with lean meat.

Seems we had quite a different experience to earlier reports - perhaps it's changed hands. Whatever, they've definitely upped their game.

Called in yesterday for lunch with a few friends,as earlier this year I had lunched there with my partner and had a value for money.meal. What a complete and utter dissapointment.I had the sausage and mash, which consisted of packet mash with a most peculiar texture, the sausages were undercooked and were almost tasteless, nothing like the pork apple and cider as advertised. The fish was medioca but not worth the money. The only good thing that could be said about the meals was that they were hot, shame this was spoilt by the poor quality and taste of the food. I observed that other patrons complained to the waitress about undercooked food and left more than they ate.
On a different note from the food, may I point out that it is rude and unproffessional to clear away plates of those who have finished eating when a member of a party is still eating, and also the young waiter was spraying the tables with cleanse whilst people were eating on the next table,as much as it is good to see that the tables and area being kept clean it might be an idea to just wipe tables with a damp cloth,NOT with a chemical spray.
What a shame this pub will not be frequented again by myself or my friends.

I wrote here as you can see in April last, we had a surprise visit of relatives and, for ease we decided to go to the Fox/Goose. We arrived to find it fairly empty on a Saturday lunch and a noticable absence of atmosphere, although the staff were cheery and pleasant. A couple opposite had alraedy complained about there meals and duly left most of it and the building. We ordered the cod/scampi/ foxys chicken/sausage mash. 6 meals in total. the drinks were all fine. The scampi run of the mill, the foxys chicken seem to be enormous 2x butterfly portions each..The cod was a small skinned 10oz affair and not worth the price. the sausage and mash dire really definately not worth the money and you couldn't taste the apple or cider in it. The mash tasted like cold baked potato mashed and heated. what a let down, after the previous visit, didn't see the chap we met before either. The lunch ended by a bar person clearing whilst a member was still eating and, to top it all another bar person on the other side of the said member started spraying the table next to him on the other side. All in all a disasterous experience, compared to the last one.. A big thumbs down..

It's been a good while since my last visit here, and the party and i ventured in. not much change in the decor, but still pleasant enough for a comfortable drink/meal.The 3 meals went down a treat and we were offered more vegetables and, i were even offered more of my Kleftico should i wish it. Nice drop of bath ales.and, the service was pleasnt from all concerened, the owner even had time to thank us and wish us well on leaving. Have to admit can't say i've had a bad meal or drink here.Since this guys been there. But our party was well pleased all round.

The food looked good, the waitress looked good, the beer looked good @ 2.50pint for Bath Ales "Festivity",Twas sadly like sarsons though, won't rule the place out though for a return as it certainly has potential, 6.5/10

I double checked to see if I'd visited the same pub as the other reviewers. I had.

The Fox and Goose is an add-on to a large, corporate hotel/motel complex. The bar is a mad mixture of styles - European bar area, 1960s fireplace with 16th century oak beam over it. The tables are 19th c. style, generally, it needs a make-over, as it has no idea what its identity is.

The beer was all keg Eurofizz inc. the cider. The atmosphere was nil and only enlivened by a wall full of appalling and tasteless paintings being offered for sale. I really do not see why anyone should go there.

I've given it 2 as the roof didn't leak.

I've had the pleasure of dining here on a few occasions and I've not been disappointed once by either the food or the beer.

It's not gourmet dining, but it doesn't try to be, but it's a much better place to eat than many pubs. Something that is only helped by the friendly staff.

The only thing to be wary of is the portion sizes - they range from big to enormous! On my most recent visit my grandfather was served the largest ham egg and chips I've ever seen!

It's location on the A38 less than 2 minutes from junction 22 of the M5 means that it is an ideal stopping point on a long journey, although it's capacity doesn't rival that of the service station just up the motorway the quality of the food and environment is several orders of magnitude greater.

Beer was OK.
If you order food, ensure the ordered items are all delivered, as you'll be charged for them, but you may not see them!
