Why does nearly every pub in this area only serve Carling and Grolsch lagers??

Bland, forgettable pub, but did provide massive sandwiches.

The burger was rubbish.

Visited on a Thursday evening, and found to have just two others at the bar and a small group sat at a table. This pub looks great from outside and the historical interest should guarantee a good pub. It's owned by Brains who had several of their beers on offer. The inside however is rather average and drab, which seems a shame.
There are some really interesting items on the wall from the French invasion of 1797, however whilst it was great that you can get really close up to the table on which the surrender was signed, it is remarkable that this is just sat in the main room, with nothing stopping damage being caused by anyone sitting on it or leaving pint pots on the top etc.
Brains, please appreciate the history of this item, keep it open to the public but at least ensure that it is roped off to protect it from further damage.

The only pub left in Fishguard main square so we were fairly hopeful this Brains pub would be decent having beaten off the competion.
Sadly, althought the 3 beers on offer were reasonably kept and priced, the pub had definitely seen better days and even at 8pm on a Saturday night it was empty with no atmosphere.
We tried it once more but then even the promise of the regular Tuesday Folk night couldn't draw us back for a 3rd visit.

Not bad, but nothing really special (if you aren't really interested in the "heritage" angle of the French surrender when they invaded Fishguard in 1797: they surrendered in this pub). 6/10

Three real ales were on offer on hadpull. Was told by the enthusiastic you bar man that they serve ales on stillage on occassions. Ales were in good condition but were far too cold. Food was ok

Not a bad boozer, bit of French Invasion history but a bit tatty, friendly locals and quiz on Sundays. Don't bother trying to get a taxi home Sundays though, either get ready for a long walk or prepare to take out a second mortgage if you have to get one to come over from Cardigan.

Maybe the below mentioned complaints are a result of the crabby old bloke called Dave who owns it. A very odd person indeed. Cough loudly at night outside the pub and you get banned on the pub watch.

Poor food - maybe it's a Fishguard thing, but I would seriously avoid the restaurant. We were in a group including children, and it was really, really dire. Don't waste your money and go somewhere else - preferably outside Fishguard!!

As a pub, great. But if you don't want to run a restaurant, PLEASE DON'T BOTHER!!

Last year they still served Brains Dark MILD on draft. Not anymore. The lazy, corby-bothered attitude strikes.

Easier to keep the keg variety even though its not a patch on a real cask MILD. Who cares about the customer? The usual excuse is that it doesnt sell well. Try promoting it then you lazy sods. Why anyone would want to drink something the same colour as what they p*** in the bog baffles me.

Try some of the dark stuff and you may be pleasantly surprised. Just because its called mild doesnt mean its weak. It tastes better is often stronger and doesnt give you a bad head or stomach.

No alternative then for this pub and I did what I preach: NO MILD WALK OUT.
