please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Shiplaunch is now closed as a pub sadly and is currently a Chinese restaurant. Hopefully it will return to being a pub again one day

Nice friendly pub, bit off the beaten track, but worth it. Themed decor looks good, if a bit spoilt by the half-dead pot plants. Very talented chef - food was excellent and reasonably priced. Outside patio area spacious and comfortable. Clean toilets. Noisy parrot in the corner a bit disconcerting, but has better conversation than the barman!

Popped in for a quick half whilst passing. Only Adnams Best in terms of beer but I'm not convinced they get much ale trade. However, the barman pulled off what had been in the pipes before serving us and we got a fine, and very hoppy, bitter. The pub itself comes across as a bit of a gastro-pub and I guess they serve food but it was friendly and welcoming. The African Grey Parrot in the corner can make some disturbing noises.

We visited the Shiplaunch last Saturday, armed with a voucher for money off the main course. There are currently no real ales available, the Adnams "is still settling". The service and food are great, we had the traditional lasagne and garlic bread.I would watch the drinks prices, we paid just over 12.00 for 1 gin and tonic, 1 pint of orange juice and lemonade and 1 cappucino, admittedly in a larger cup. We then had to pay cash as they Management are taking no cards. We felt that our 5.00 voucher actually covered the over pricing of the drinks and wasn't really a genuine offer.

In a word, amazing. Had a great chat with the Chef at the bar before sitting down. All I could say throughout the meal was WOW! Then a pint in the "Squishy Room" afterwards. A perfect evening.

Recently refurbished and now totally smoke-free.
This reminds me of a London Gastro-Pub. The food is great the beers are varied - Hoegaerden on tap ! and the staff are very friendly including the chef who likes to check on you from time to time.
Location close to "Docklands" but without the views ... but once you're inside who cares?

Brilliant food - you may have to wait to be seated in the restaurant area, but just relax and have a drink: the yumminess is well the worth the wait - and also worth the weight you might put on if you eat as much as you want to eat!
