The Ship Launch Inn, Ipswich

The Shiplaunch is now closed as a pub sadly and is currently a Chinese restaurant. Hopefully it will return to being a pub again one day

The Grand Old Duke Of York, Ipswich

Visited this pub last Sunday evening (6/2/11). Was after some food and didn't hold out too much hope, dispite the board outside advertising food. Went in and they were serving, and the food was surprisingly very good and well priced. The pub had two real ales on offer (Phoenix 2.60 and Morland bitter 2.10) and both were good beers. The owners say that they will be promoting more local beers soon. This is the first time in many years that this pub has served real ales(know this as it is a local) and is well worth a visit to show your support. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Only small criticism was that the pub was a little too brightly lit for my liking.

The Odd One Out, Colchester

I always enjoy a visit to this pub. Step inside the door and get transported back in time. Don't go here if you are worried about decor, super shiny toilets, bright lighting or if you want to spend the time messing about with your mobile phone, but do go here if you are passionate about decent beer and good old fashioned company. Always a great choice of quality ales. I went in on 5th Nov and the landlord John had 4 ciders and 7 beers on tap. Mauldons silver adder and Knights Porter were just a couple of the good range on offer. A very good selection of whiskies are also offered. Sensibly priced and i was offered a choice of a straight glass or a mug. A rare treat these days. Pubs like this are hard to find, and this one is as good as a pub gets
