As mentioned below this is very much a top tier Dublin pub with two areas separated by a beautiful old arch. Our beers were brought to our table and waiters were running around taking drink orders. A real timewarp of a pub.

Simply superb and must be visited.
Victorian splendour presenting a long thin bar with high stools and a small drinking area at the back room. Walls covered in drinking paraphernalia - whisky mirrors etc,
Professional bar staff looking after everyone and pouring superb guinness.
A real gem.

One of the few _(10)ish old style pubs left to their past in a good way. Millwork, stained glass, snugs. with little in the way of modern shite! Great pours from the publicans.

Packed on friday night 1st feb but no trouble getting to the bar or getting served why do you always feel your going to get a spank if you ask someone to move in England! As it was packed not much chance to look at the the pub itself but hey find yourself a spot and enjoy! Smithwicks was on good form!

I used to like this place but then I had a bad experience with a barman being unnecessarily rude, so now I and a lot of my friends just don't feel comfortable going there, which is a pity, because the atmosphere was usually nice and the beer good, and the surroundings are proper Dublin pub.
I'd recommend the Stag's Head as an alternative, particularly now that the upstairs bar is open, or, a little further afield, Mulligan's on Poolbeg Street.

Decent pub for a beer when its not too packed on a night visit. Some interesting featurespictures and woodwork to look at when punters are a bit sparse... Narrow front bar spreads out to a larger space at the back.

Marvellous unchanged boozer. Loads of original features, including an arch with a clock in it dividing the back from the front bars. There' s a great mirrored pillar behind the bar, and a magnificant Viennese clock. If this place was in London, I'd never go home.
