My friend and i walked all the way from the doone valley to here to find the pub closed! What a disapointment instead of a hearty meal washed down with plenty of ale we had to make do with soggy sandwiches in the rain! Have been in before though, it is ok but more of a hotel than a pub really.

Friendly staff and nice atmosphere, shame about the real ale from Clearwater! Insipid, tasteless, lacking body.

We went for Valentines weekend (with the dog) and it was a lovely setting in a beautiful part of Exmoor. We had a wonderful time, the only disppointment was the breakfast, it took a long time to arrive, the tomato ketchup came in sachets rather than a bottle & the chef had forgotten my bacon.

Had a wonderful walk across the moor only to find the place closed all day Monday. Any pub that cannot be arsed to open all week doesn't deserve to survive these days. Two other disappointed lunchers fortunately told us that the tea shop around the corner (Boeveys) was open so we had to settle for Ginger Beer!

Very good country inn with well kept ales but rather expensive menu. Walker friendly.

Excellent country inn with character. We have had a number of meals here, always excellent with local ingredients. Sat in garden for enjoyable lunch, always quick and very pleasant service with conversations going on between the tables.Good real ales, exmoor and tribute on last visit. Dog and walker friendly. Very highly recommended (excellent service, food, atmosphere, beer) wish it was closer to home, 100 miles

Always a welcoming sight after a long hike across the moors. The beers always good, and the staff are fairly tolerant of muddy boots (as long as you take them off) It's a pity they don't open all day (maybe they do in summer, I not sure) as there's nothing worse than walking half the day to get to a pub, only to find it has just closed. Apart from that it's almost faultless.

More of a restaurant than a pub with only a small bar area mostly filled with prospective diners waiting for tables. Officially opened (on Easter Saturday) at 6.30 but we were invited in earlier and grabbed the last available table. They had to turn away 2 other groups wanting tables before their official opening time. Pricey menu but quality was good as was the ale from Cotleigh. Recommended
