Plenty of nautical memorabilia, really wanted to know what the Stop black smoke instruction meant on a vintage ships control thingy A bit dim inside and not many customers drinking or eating on a Thursday night but I’m assured it gets busy at weekends I liked the place,a bit of a walk to be my local and no direct bus access but reckon it would be if I lived a mile nearer

We were also staying in the nearby holiday camp in Preston. So we came in here on Saturday evening for a meal and a swift half. This is a large pub catering for both diners and drinkers. The front bar had international football on the TVs. The rear room is a large dining area. We had a fairly enjoyable meal. The ale range is a little limited - Sharps Atlantic & Doom Bar, Ringwood Best & Timothy Taylor Landlord. There are no real ciders. But they did have Stowford Press & Thatchers Gold on keg. Nice enough pub, but a bit dull (in terms of lighting) inside.

Popped in here whilst on a short break at the nearby holiday camp. Very cosy interior and liked the place alot. Also a reasonable beer garden to sit in.

stayed in nearby seaview holiday camp so popped in for drink on the friday night, slightly overpriced drinks but decent enough choice and all round its a nice pub with very original style and a cosey feel to it .... locals surround bar so awquard to get in to order drinks but definatly worth popping in if in nearby sites . was going to eat in there but saw food and looked very overpriced for what was being served..

It's almost a year since I last visited the spice ship and once again we had to wait for our meal, although this time only for about half an hour. If the restaurant had been busy this would have been acceptable, but there were very few customers when we ordered. The order was wrong when brought to the table, we had asked for no salad, but salad was on one of the plates. The drinks order, was also wrong, ordering a large coke and being given a small one. The desserts were also wrong, we all ordered cream and got ice cream. The food, once it arrived was very good, but this place needs to pay more attention to detail. This is a nice place to eat, but it really needs to get it's act together.

We had a meal on Saturday evening. Got there at 6, no one else in the restaurant and had to wait over half hour for salad, pasta and chicken nuggets! My son was in tears as they bought his meal out 5 mins after everyone elses. Very disappointed with the quality of the meal- I thought peas were meant to be green not grey!

Went to The Spice Ship early June 2011 expecting a great meal after reading good reviews. How wrong we were. The meal was poor. Undercooked fatty lamb chops and raw potatoes, dried out fajitas doused in dried oregano, frozen cod. Its a shame because its a lovely pub inside however the restaurant is in need of an overhaul. We expected better for the money we paid and we will therefore not be returning nor would we recommend the food.

Just had another lovely meal at The Spice Ship , We often go for a meal there as the food is first class you just cannot fault it, The place and atmosphere is lovely, have just read the review about the wait on the food, we've waited sometimes as they can get very , very busy but to be honest the food is always excellent, cooked fresh, and to order , and we never mind waitng as it is always worth it .

Visited for a second time in just over a week. Food was excellent again, but service was appalling - we waited over an hour for our main course and there was a further delay with deserts which weren't all served at the same time, meaning some of the party had finished before the rest of the deserts were delivered to the table. Whilst I appreciate the food is "cooked from scratch" an hour is far too long to wait for our meal.

Visited the Spice Ship on a Saturday night, when we arrived the dining room was quite empty, but filled up very quickly. It was easy to see why - the food and service were both excellent. We were impressed by the amount of space between tables, so many places these days try to maximise profits by placing tables close together. Great menu, great food, great service. A "must do" if in the Preston area of Weymouth

Another great meal at the Spice Ship, their home cooked food really is some of the best around. Sad to see that handsome barman leave though.
