Junction, Baildonback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Saturday was a return visit to Yorkshire. My first stop (the Barnsley Conservative Club) is not listed on here. But, the Junction was our first pub in West Yorkshire. It's home to the Junction Brewery. But, they had run out of beers brewed by themselves. There were only 4 ales that I could see - Tetley Bitter, Wadworth Rising Sun, Salopian Oracle & Bedlam Benchmark. We sat in the cosy snug, which was nicely decorated. Locals were watching horse racing in the bar on our Saturday afternoon visit. Adverts in the local CAMRA magazine suggest that they serve real cider. But, there was no sign of any on my visit. Moved on from here to the Bull's Head Inn in Baildon town centre. It's not listed on here. But, I found it slightly better than the Junction.

I have gone past this place many times and my dad used to imform me that it had won various awards but we had never tried it, finally got to last night. It feels bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. It has a room with a pool table in, the bar area with some seating around the immediate vicinity, and an extra room off the bar, there may be more past the toilets but I didn't investigate. The bar itself is a smallish square that you immediately see when you enter, the pub itself has various memorabilia commemorating local breweries, including the (not so local anymore) Tetley Brewery. 7 ales on- Tetleys, Timothy Taylors Landlord, Fullers ESB, Heys Gold by Bingley Brewery, Plum Pudding by JW Lees, Junction Brewery Blonde and Junction Brewery Golden Splendoer. The last two I am assuming are brewed in the pub or nearby for the pub (it says it's brewed in Baildon), the also do a 'Junction Lager' which is interesting. The pint of Heys Gold I had was a solid pint but nothing to write home about, my mum went for the Junction Blonde and it had a bad taste, like dishwater (don't know if the pipes were cleaned poorly or it was just the beer), all the pints were clean looking so seemed to be well kept. This is an interesting pub, the only faults I can pick are: 1- the location, it's a trek from Baildon town centre itself and Baildon station, Shipley station isn't too far away but you will have to walk for at least 15 minutes to get here from there. 2- the decor, it's okay but it feels like the way my Gran would decorate her house. But the 'faults' are relatively minor ones, especially the second one. the beer is well kept and the locals and barmaid seem friendly enough and for a pint of Fosters, pint of Landlord, pint of Heys Gold and a half pint of the Junction Blonde to come to 9.55 is good value, if trying the two Junction beers it may be worth asking for a sample. Definitely worth the walk from Shipley station, which is only a 10 minute train journey from Leeds and Bradford Forster Square.

I was driving through the area recently visiting family I had heard of the good reputation the pub has and was curios to see if such high praise was deserved. I took my father who has always been a real ale lover but struggles to get to places. We were both very impressed by the friendly bar staff, great beer, and warm atmosphere created by a host of friendly locals a must go if u are anywhere near the area.

OMG I have died and gone to beery heaven.

Really superb pub - always a 'must visit' on our frequent trips into the Aire Valley. Bob's Brewery White Lion or Dark Star Hophead usually available. And, as if this wasn't enough, there is a singing Moose in one of the rooms.
The owner, Brighton Bill, is well known in local CAMRA circles. Truly a legend in his own lunchtime!

An excellent classy well run traditional pub with terrific beers and several rooms to hide away in or join in with the hubbub. Some food also; pub fare. Its a bit plagued at times by 'regularitis' at the bar but still does Sunday snacks. A bit like the Slubbers in Huddersfield in terms shape, position and ale quality. It is living proof that a well run pub can thrive in the current climate.

One of the best pubs I've been in this year. Friendly, great beer range and quality and Sky Sports.

I recently spent an evening in this pub whilst I was on a business trip in the area. It came highly recommended on BITE so I gave it a try.
The staff (& punters) were all extremely friendly. There was a large selection of real ales & ciders on offer.
I would highly recommend this pub to anybody who likes real ale & a warm friendly atmosphere.

Superb ale-house with real character and impressive beer range. For some reason I thought ownership had changed recently but looked every inch the local XAMRA facourite it clearly is. Also sells the great City Gent fanzine.

A well as PoTy 2006, now holds PoTY 2007 PLUS those first two PoTS awards from local CAMRA branch. Curry nights on hold at present but due for imminent return, just like a certain group of SEAGULS !!!!!!

I love this pub, a lovely warm friendly atmosphere, great beers, great curry nights, the prices are unbeatable in this area and it's no wonder the pub has won a string of awards.
