I agree was better as the blue but thats progress!

This place was betetr when it was the Blue Anchor. Its just simply boring now, can't say much else.
|
Its not a bad place if your feeling depressed or down, the service is quick (cos you are probably the only one in there) but dont order the burger they have on offer cos you will get a rat burger! It looks like the meat is moulded together from left over beef as its lumpy and a strange shape. The beer wasn't ice cold either.

I have too say i was bored here, There service is far to unreliable i had to triple check with the staff for my drinks, forgetful!! Made out to be fantastic, was thoroughly disappointed. What a waste of money!

Bring back the Blue Anchor!

Popped in2 the Boundary this evening for a 'St Miguel' on tap, as barstaff in the 'Town Hall' were too busy to provide me with any bar service at 8pm!(It wasn't terribly busy in there either!) i got served straight away in the Boundary! Staff were particularly on the ball here tonight, as 2x girls who looked 16yrs (but were probably even younger) were refused service and shown the door!! (now that's unusual isn't it)! There were a few upset Man United supporters in the pub, because apparently Ronaldo missed a penalty against Barcelona...! Oh dear. TJ

15 years ago best pub in staines and i bet they call this disaster progress

Hopeless. If you're only going to offer one real ale it would be worth getting it right. The Pedigree is chilled almost to destruction and expensive too. If you want to watch the football walk across the square to the Town Hall (Deuchars and Brains SA in good nick at 1.50 a pint last weekend).

Was refused service for wearing jogging bottoms (i had been up on site in London). The thing was, was that the place was absolutely empty, and they had not been open long, so you would have thought they would have been glad of the business, so I went to the Town Hall to spend my hard earned cash instead. Been since, bar staff can be rubbish, busy talking. Prices ok, much of a muchness really, nothing great about it.

One ale (Marstons), served poorly (a pint poured into two halves) in a cracked glass.
Footy on the TV with aspect ratios incorrectly set. What a waste of a grand if the landlord even can't read the instructions!
Basically, the same as it was when under the Blue W@nker moniker. So avoid...

Current managers have a strange policy for customers who prefer a 'smoke-free' pint... Some days of the week the far end area (with wooden flooring) is set aside as a 'no smoking area'. However, if there's a football game on, or some other sporting event, they let people smoke throughout the whole pub. I don't understand this policy...2006 = "Non-smokers will have to lump it or like it"...but in Jul 2007 = "Smokers will have to lump it!".. Where is the sensible balance, and when are pub managers ever going to cater for both types of patron satisfactorily...??

I lived in Staines until about 18 months ago. Went to visit mates and thought "ohh a new pub". No. Not new. Just the Blue Anchor without the Customers.
Obviously easy to get a beer though (and the staff are pleasant).

On the whole the re-fit has improved things here. How the management came up with the name 'Boundary' still remains a mystery though! A long narrow pub, deceptively long in fact. You could easily go out on the 'lash' here and not see your missus with the hen party on the tables at the far end..!! But seriously, a nice pub! (I had to send my steak back last time I was in here, but hopefully that was a 'one-off'. There was no quibble from the manager either, money back straight away - thats a positive)! When the football season is well underway, no doubt I will be drawn back, on those cold, dark, winter nights... ah yes, its all coming back now...! Summer didn't last long! (That's England for you..!) TJ

It has the potential to be a good pub. I was in there on Friday night and it was very quite, the customers in there seemed to be of a better standard than before. The atmosphere is good, the food is ok but a be too expensive for the amount you get, and the staff seem friendly.
My only critical comment is:
WHY DO THEY NEED 4-5 BOUNCERS ON THE DOOR, THIS IS SURLY PUTTING PEOPLE OFF GOING IN, AND GIVING OFF THE WRONG IMPRESSION OF IT BEING A DODGY PLACE WHICH IT USE TO BE BUT DOESNT SEEM TO BE ANYMORE, IF THEY SORT THIS OUT AND THEY MIGHT SEE MORE CUSTOMERS AT THE BAR!!!!

I don't think this is as bad as other commentors. ALthough I disliked the slightly loud football on tv, the food was nice and reasonably priced. A good place for a saturday lunch. Very friendly staff and nice decor.

what a waste of a refit. Some staff, same customers, different furniture.

I HATED the Blue anchor (well not the original) but this place is much better. Nice staff, manager is good and new music policy is good too for a dance. Well Done!

oh my god... what a waste of time, this place was full of rude customers and staff and guess what still is...
goes to show what a lick of paint and a new name cant fix!!!!!!
