Mermaid, Burfordback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
It was never a great pub, but it's worse now. Another Burford tourist trap.

Would agree to some extent with the last poster..... unsympathetic refurb... too many empty 'reserved for diners' tables (in a virtually, sorry not virtually - an ACTUALLY empty pub) restricting drinkers to a small area at the front. The Olde Trip was nice pint (compared to the other GK garbage on offer). The missus found it pleasant to peer out across to the registry office and watch the wedding parties exude from there. She will be watching them on her own next time.

Looks like a quaint little place from the outside but unfortunately the owners have obvisouly decided that it needed a bit of modernisation inside, which has spoilt the place a bit. Nice proper open fire though and the Olde Trip was top notch.

Not sure about this one. Was on a rare forage for food and this was only place serving food during the afternoon. Upstairs cosy, as long as you're not too tall. Conservatory at back more like a playhouse with kids running around everywhere. Main bar OK. Good Ploughmans & nice ale

Good pub with real log fire. About 4 real ales best of which were Witchfinder Porter and Olde Trip. Staff a bit slow though.

Really good pub. We went in with our 5 year old son just for a quick drink. The lady behind the bar (landlady??) was really friendly and (unprompted) gave our son some crayons and a couple of pictures to colour in. This meant we had time for an extra drink so definitely worth an extra point! All in all the sort of welcome you wish for when you're looking to take your kids into a pub.

I happened upon this pub after a day at the Cotswold Wildlife Park, and what a find! My first reaction was joy as I saw them selling Stowford Press. This quickly turned to awe as I was informed by the very knowledgeable bar staff (surely she was the manager?) that, although this is a Greene King pub, they have chosen to sell SP against the area manager's wishes.
To be honest, had she not metioned the dreaded GK, I would never have known. It is so unlike what you expect from a GK pub: it feels like a real pub, with no silly paint scheme or horrific "improvements".
At the front is a small (too small i would say) smoking bar with an open log fire and wooden seating. Around the corner is the (larger) no smoking area, all laid out for dining. There is also a rather posh looking conservatory. Nothing, however, could prise my companion and I away from the fire and the pints of delicious cider.
Unfortunately lack of funds and time meant we spend very little time here, and didn't try the food, but we are already planning a return, if we can find a cheap B&B in the area. (THAT'S how good it is)
This pub is as near to perfection as I have yet found.
