Was heaving on our July Saturday visit and sadly the beer brewed at the rear ran out just as we arrived. We had one of two beers from The Fat Cat Brewery on offer.
|
On arrival the place was covered in scaffolding so didn't look inviting but once inside it's really nice. Only two real ales on offer with one being willys bitter which was a good session beer. Tried the home cooked food which was reasonable.

I visited here and was looking forward to trying a pint of Willys but unfortunately at the time of my visit, the only hand pump in action was the Black Sheep Bitter. I had a pint of this which was perfectly fine, however I would have preferred to have tried something a bit different. There were four hand pumps in total, Willys, Bass, Black Sheep, and something else I can't remember. To only have one of the four ales on was a bit disappointing. Perhaps I caught them at a bad time.
The place was fairly busy with lunchtime diners, fishcakes seemed to be a popular option and although I didn't dine here myself, the portions looked fairly generous and I'd definitely be tempted to eat here if I was in the area again.
The terracotta floor tiles in the bar area looked like they should have been in the toilets, and bizarrely the flooring in the toilets would have been well suited to the bar area. Some of the décor looked a bit run down - a half painted wall towards the back of the bar which looked as if somebody just gave up half way through.
The staff were pleasant and efficient, keeping on top of clearing tables and cleaning the bar area.
Overall a pleasant atmosphere, and I'd be tempted to return if they had other ales on next time, and as previously mentioned, to sample the food.

I think if your in an area you should always look for a micropub and it's surprising that this one is in a seaside resort. Came here 5 years ago and was pleasantly surprised and I would say the same now. A great addition to a town that mostly prefers keg. I'd say that the pub needs to get in touch with a few like minded micropubs and share a few ideas and beers. A must if in cleethorpes.

Been in a few times recently and must say the beer quality appears to be improving. Willys bitter still tastes different everytime you go in though !
|
Popped in for lunch the other week. One Willys beer on and a couple of others. Tried the Willys Original Bitter and the White Horse Giants Stairs which were both excellent. Had the chilli which was also great. This place is easy to find as it is right on the sea front. Well worth searching out if you're in town.

A popular pub, but can be a bit noisy and rough at times. Prices are getting out of hand now with the cheapest home brewed handpulled now at 2-22 and others nearly 3 ! A lot dearer than Wetherspoons now! But worth a visit
|
Willys original good but on the cold side. Other guest beers not 100%. Great idea early Friday with vouchers for beer, certainly got the crowds in. Saturday night a bit to loud for me with the DJ. It is the best pub in Cleethorpes! Says it all really.

Been going to this pub for years. Once served superb condition beers and held mini beer festivals but over the last year the quality has gone down hill. Real Ale is far too cold and the Willys Bitter has a different taste everytime you try it ! There is no consistency which is bizarre as a CAMRA guy brews it ! Very poor considering it is brewed 15 yards away. Other beers are not kept well either. The food is of excellent value and quality. Still the best pub in Cleethorpes by a mile which doesn't say much about the remainder.....

Popped in for lunch yesterday. Ales on were Willys Original (2.15), Oldershaws Mowbrays Mash (2.35) and Maypoles Major Oak (2.45). I was driving and had my little un with me to didnt manage to sample the beer, although my Dad (a regular) says its ok, but not that well kept (make your own mind up). However, its one of the only decent ale pubs in Cleethorpes, other than the Number 2 Refereshment Room (under the clock on the station). Food was excellent, all homemade, and all for 3.95. I had chicken balti and it was excellent. For a Tuesday lunchtime it was busy, good atmosphere and felt like a weekend. Nice sea views on a very pleasant day. Worth a visit for cheap ale, good homemade food and a good atmosphere. Good mix of both locals and visitors.

Industrial looking with the pipes and ducting. Bit disappointed they only had one Willy's beer, Original. Also Batemans Eggs B, Bass and a Woods beer. Some foreign bottles. Ok

One of the rare pubs that brews its on beer. It is located at the far end of the promenade. It was selling its "Original" for only 99p - how zat Wetherspoons! I tried the Last Resort which was a sweet golden beer that was very palatable. The pub itself was very basic with pipes and tubes showing everywhere. Seating was limited to hard dining room type furniture. It was doing a roaring trade in food was very reasonably priced.

Willy's was my local for years before I moved away from the area. It hasn't changed much and is still one of the best places to go in Cleethorpes. It's full of friendly locals and has decent sea views. Real ale is good although I've never been a massive fan of their own brewed Willy's original, but it's still a good pint. All in all a good pub to visit if you're in the area. Gets very busy at night and around teatime.

Visited this pub over the Easter weekend - a good find. The pub has furniture and the feel of a cafe, yet balances this with two guest ales and a very nice pint of Willy's Original which they brew in a microbrewery on site - you can see the equipment through a small window at the rear of the premises. Good beer, equally decent prices and friendly bar staff. Different to your average pub but certainly worth a stop.

Great place. Very good value. Very good ale. Interesting and cheap food. Well-behaved away fans welcome. The best pub in the area by a mile. And great fish and chips next door too.
|
Beers still good but atmosphere isn't as friendly as it once was. A few too many heavy drinking middle aged lads hanging round the bar. It can feel heavy and agressive in a way it never used to.
|
A great feel to the place, modern and airy but traditional values (?) - Wills Original superb

Seafront bar with own microbrewery has been functioning as such since the mid-80's. Willy's Bitter and the stronger Old Groyne always on offer plus guest beers and imported lagers, absinthe collection. Loud and busy, has upstairs second room sometimes used for music.
