A few years since I was last round this part of town. The pub is cosy and welcoming and there is extensive outside seating which is a real suntrap for most of the day. I enjoyed a couple of pints of Banks''s Sunbeam - an excellent quaffing ale that was in tip-top condition. I have this down as a ''must visit''. 10/10.

Now gained cask marque certification, for all you scanners out there.

An excellent, traditional pub. 6 well kept cask ales and decent food at reasonable prices. Well worth a special visit.

The Dog & Pheasant is a rather cosy Marstons pub on one of the roads out of Ashton-under-Lyne. The beer range was fairly good - Marstons Pedigree, EPA & Burton Bitter, Banks's Bitter & Sunbeam & Wychwood The Dog's Bollocks. The interior is split up into 3 or 4 individual areas and the pub seems very popular with diners. The home-cooked pub food smelt very nice and it's good to see a pub cooking its own fresh meals, rather than relying on microwaved rubbish. Would have been my favourite pub of the day, if it hadn't have been for the slightly restrictive Marstons beer range.

A bit of a locals local this one with very knowledgeable bar staff. Might be a good place to visit if your a walker with daisy nook country park not far away.

An excellent pub. Lovely and welcoming. Great staff, service and lovely food. There are two or three 'rooms' these are more areas than actual rooms but plenty of room. Nice outside area with seating. We had our Daughters Christening at this pub a couple of weeks ago. The Landlord was fantastic to deal with excellent value for money and plenty of staff on to deal with the extra demand of customers that the christening threw at them. Lovely, clean welcoming pub. Well worth a visit!

Excellent traditional pub, welcoming and friendly. Godd choice of real ales. Cosy inside with a decent bear garden down the side.
Management doesn't tollerate swearing or any bad beahviour and as such this pub is gladly free of the 'tracksuit clad underclass'.
Good quiz night on tuesdays and thursday. Occasional live act or dj set on Fridays (60's soul/Blues).
Food is home cooked and decent without being exceptional - (good standard pub fare).

A friendly welcome at a proper locals pub. The cask ales are well kept and not over-expensive. The food is excellent: home cooked, imaginative, with decent portions and good value for money. Well worth a visit.

2.45 for a pint of cocker hoop is way over the top for the area, no way can this be justified, city centre pubs a lot cheaper for real ales dearer than some southern coast pubs.
|
Decent locals pub with goddish Pedigree; ideal for the lovely Daisy Nook park

some pubs in London charge the same for a pint!,.....almost. But friendly, English speaking and decent beers make a good combination. The meaty steaks are quite acceptable and unlike the ale they are reasonably priced.

Excellent locals pub, with friendly landlord and bar staff. Well kept real ale, long time entry in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. Good food served, including veggie options. Beer prices let down what is a good pub.
|
A comfortable interior, serves decent food, pleasant staff, camra listed, only downside being 2.35 for a pint of real ale more than a lot of city centre pubs. Rating mirrors beer price.
