Closed, boarded-up. Homeless people sleeping in the doorways as the 2017 City of Culture returns to reality.

A shadow of its former self. Only matter of time before it becomes luxury flats.

Not bad but not one of the better pubs. Today was a "beer festival" day 25% of the beers listed not on. No knowledge of the beers or brewers. Also expensive for Hull (£3.10 FOR A 3.8%). I regret to say that i will not be returning as there are better and cheaper pubs in Hull city centre.

Tends to close early if nobody much about. Been a few times on a Monday evening only to find the doors locked. Recent paintjob, inside & outside has brightened things up somewhat. Plenty of sport on the many TV screens. Good for food.

Hugely disappointed.
Used to go in here about 10 years but popped back on a return to the city in the afternoon to find it somewhat tatty, grubby and basic.
Ordered a pint and asked for a glass of tap water while I was paying (was a hot day), only to be told that I could buy a bottle of water but not have tap. I've never had this before in my life and would have walked out, but as the fella already had my money in his hand I went along with it.
The Tetleys was not great (Tim Taylor's Landlord was also on, but other pumps unused), but the place was dark and gloomy, chipped and scuffed, the tables dirty, and could do with a major clean-up/sprucing up. There was also piped music, which never normally bothers me, but this was too loud and a particularly annoying mix of a Basement Jaxx mash-up in the middle of the afternoon.
Not the place to have a quiet pint and the thing with the water left me feeling fleeced. The place felt grubby and grasping and I wont be going back when you can walk 2 mins more and be treated to a decent pub experience in the Wellington.

Good but not great. Solid boozer with a good pint of Landlord and loads of TV sport if you like that kind of thing. DO NOT express fondness for Hull KR in this pub.....

My Partner and I regularly both eat and drink here.
During the day it is a quiet place to rest after shopping. The food is wonderful. If you choose a hot meal you best be really hungry as the portions are huge. I have never seen such a huge fish and chips! Even the sandwiches are a filling snack (or meal!).
In the evening it can sometimes be busier, but still good service.

Fantastic Sunday Roast, and the Steak Pie is great too. ice pint of Landlord plus at least one other top brew.
