Recently bought by a consortium of about half a dozen people from the village. For the first two weeks they were all in there working and the service was great. By about the third week waiting time to get served averaged about 5-6 minutes. Not because of the queue but because there was nobody to serve you. I used to go there 1-4 times a week, now I hardly bother.

This has been one of my favourite pubs over the years, and we were always guaranteed a warm welcome.
Unfortunately, the Chequers has recently been sold. The service is now rock bottom, and I mean pretty much the worst I have ever experienced. The staff are surly and unwelcoming, so much so I was really embarrassed to have taken my father there for his birthday. I would honestly avoid this place like the plague.
In fairness, the food was good (if over-priced), but you don't want to spend an afternoon in a terrible pub with good food, do you?

That says it all "now open in the morning for coffee. take away pizza, and the great new black rock grill"
There was me thinking it was a pub. No surprise that pubs are rapidly becoming a thing of the past.
Go to this place, and if you're not intending to eat, they're not interested in you

Visited this pub on Saturday evening (May 20th 06)in the company of some friends.I was a bit wary since I had suggested it simply because it was easily accessible for all concerned at short notice. No worries, the food was excellent, the prices reasonable and surprise surprise this pub still provides the traditional bread rolls!!Well worth a visit. Zynbenbix.

Lovely pub with large play area and rear and front seating. Separate smoking areas including the lounge adjacent to the restaurant area. Good service, food menu reasonably priced and good choices on offer. Curry/pie nights during the week which are very good value.

Visited this pub today and i thought it was very good, has a restaurant in the back with two bar areas one smoking and non-smoking, does a large range of food, has a car park facility as well as plenty of outside seating.
