Regrettably I live about 220 miles from what is one of my favourite pubs, so I do my best to visit whenever I'm in the area! Several friends on cricket tour ask me each year, "are we going to that pub again?"
Exmoor, Cotleigh and Otter beers are the usuals, try choosing between them as they are all good! Some good ciders too, draught or bottled
The food, always excellent it seems whatever you have from starters through to the desserts! By the way, if you like rice pudding, try it here, drop the jam and add a scoop of ice cream in the middle, Masterchef don't have things that taste that good!
And the staff are always friendly too!
Leave the car at home or at your hotel as the bus stop is right outside running between Lynton and Barnstaple every hour!

Excellent place to stay that seems to go the extra mile to please. Tasty, well-kept independent ales, good food and a pleasant ambiance. A restaurant with rooms really, but welcoming to drinkers too. Well worth a visit or a stay if you are in the area.

Popped in here for a beer just before lunchtime closing. Pub was very cosy and it seems to be a big on good food too. The surrounding area is simply stunning.

Visited this pub in late July.......what a great find!
It is a wonderful quirky English pub and clearly run well as the Otter beer was spot on and the service was with a smile.
Perfect.
Not sure how they survive the long winter months with (I imagine) few customers...but I really hope that they do as I want to go back again!

A bit of a trek and tricky to find, but worth it. A lovely pint of Otter Amber, followed by Cotleigh Barn Owl, almost made me wish that I hadn't eaten and had left room for more beer! But we did eat, and the food - all locally sourced - was lovely, and very reasonably priced (at least when comparing with London). They do serve big portions though, so you may not need a starter. I didn't have enough room for any of their great cheese selection either, so this is a pub I will definitely be coming back to.

What a little oasis of fun and quality. This establishment is going through a bit of refurbishment, but they need to do nothing with the beer or the food. A barman with character and a pub brimming with curios. . If eating you will need to book at peak times. The food all appears to come from the west country with much from their own garden.Well worth the detour off the main road

A wonderful, quirky, english pub. A good selection of real ales, including local Exmoor variaties, but it's the food that makes a visit to this little gem of a pub worthwhile. The roast lamb in mint gravy is something to savour and the roast potatoes are to die for. The menu has something for everyone, there's a good choice for both meat and fish lovers and the West country cheese board is a must if you've got the room. Excellent!!!
