Closed and fittings removed (apart from some furniture). No idea why but there it is! However, if you are passing the area take a look at the superb Eldridge Pope mural on the outside wall - fabulous!
Completely over the top furnishings and gaudy decor, I love it, right up my street! I find the camp music too loud indoors though, so spend time in the lovely spacious garden out the back. Very pretty.
This place has turned in to a dirty worn down squaller hole, best avoided I think.
Come on this is a fun place to visit and laugh it is was it is a gay place that is owed by a large company that cant or will not spend money on. it worth a drink or two!!!!
Gay pub, no real ale but the beer garden at the back is very pleasant.

It's crowded and camp but relatively friendly - just crowded. And the drinks are quite expensive. An all right place to socialise.
Thank goodness for a change in management. The new (and slightly older generation) bar men are polite and the place has settled down to being a nice gay venue again. Still a very mixed crowd but friendly and never a bad atmosphere.
oh dear... its like shoveling a packet of cards. The dredfull chain smoking dj from the across the road has taken a home in The Branksome... dredfull pub quiz, so best avoid a mid week drink. The only thing worth heading there for now is Sunday night Caberet acts, or Miss Jason's Camp Bingo which will have you in stitches...if he turns up....
I drank there regularly, but only because I thought I had friends there. Some friends Mel and John were.Glad I got away from you alive.
i have no problem with going into gay pubs usually but this place is hidious, almost commically camp full of people who seem to think they are in will and grace...
Oh good God its so outrageously camp, shockingly clicky, quite unfriendly and full of pre-18 drinkers who are trying out their sexuality. The bitching is awful and, it seems that most of the people who drink there have watched far to many episodes of L Word, Will and Grace, Queer as Folk and other such programmes.
... I'm a lesbian but to think that this is representing homosexuality in Bournemouth, oh my...
Such a shame as it used to be ok :o(

An attempt at a refit seems to got carried away with the staple gun, with faux furs and almost gothic look. Garden remains popular but one questions the money making schemes like Branksome Pride?

Full of loud music and flashing lights. Decent beer garden but no decent beer served. Go to the Goat and Tricycle round the corner.
Its a gay pub, and excellent for all week entertainment not just the fri/sat nights. Tuesday's Miss Jason's pub quiz is a must!
The branx kiks ass, Love it and intent to go there everyweek at least 2 nights a week forever he he.
Love ya all (my baby jess, bex, stevie (rainbow), joely, craigie and the rest of the b'mouth nutters. MWAH

its the best pub ever. often go wen im with jessie, star, lu, claire, joel, andy or rod!!! Its so fun!!! and great karaoke nights!!!
Yes - agree with Marc - especially the back garden, which is now an absolutely excellent place to drink in the summer - as has been proved by it's popularity. PAUL's comments are completely unfounded - I've been going there for years without any problems.

I used to be the manager of the branksome arms, since i left they spent a large amount of money on the place and it is doing great. a good freindly feel with a wounderful garden and reg entertainment

Great Pub. Love It1
'It's now a gay pub?' To the best of my knowledge this has been a gay pub since the 70s and maybe even longer.
Its now a gay pub as are most of them in the Triangle area. However not a bad place by any means and more "straight" friendly than the Bakers opposite
