Cellar Bar, Mevagisseyback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Yeah, the clientele can vary a bit, but it's friendly enough. I agree with Shiresdrinker, give it a go... I've always found everyone friendly enough.

Around about 10th march 2012, we came for another visit during our holiday in devon. Our biggest regret is not getting contact details with a wonderful couple who made us both feel so comfortable, we havent laughed so much. SO Mark and your partner if your reading this, it would be wonderful if you could get in touch as we would love to meet up again. We had to much to drink to remember all names, soz, and we had to drive back to devon the same night. Mark works for the council, your partner p/t at chemist..........so hope to hear from you both. cheers. Best pub, service and locals - go along and find out for yourselves..

We have been coming back to this pub now for the past few years, great crowd of people/locals, bar staff. very friendly indeed. relaxed atmoshpere, gr8 country feel. The locals are so friendly and you are made to feel very welcome indeed. We cant wait to visit again, but do intend to stay somewhere closer this time, so we dont have a long drive back to bed. Met a wonderful gr8 couple at our last visit, heard some funny tales from them, including about not touching the dog on the head. Mark and your wife, we hope to see you both again, we had one to many and forgot name and we wish we got numbers to stay in touch.

The bloke slumped, asleep at the bar rather put us off. As did the dog peeing on the floor.

At first glance this pub looks seedy but you are always very welcome, the beer is great and the food is excellent & very quick. Very dog friendly too. Give it a chance.

Likewise Jules44, certainly a bit tatty outside, and that was just the customers.

We didn't even venture in the pub as it would have meant wading through empty crisp packets, broken roof slates and glasses strewn in front of the door. Heaven knows what the inside must have been like!
Jules 44.
