Station, Oxenholmeback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
We had walked up plenty of hills, so the 5 minutes upto the pub from the station did not put us off before our return journey home to Manchester.
Healthy number of people in during our Monday evening visit with a mix of diners and drinkers. Choice was Hawkshead Bitter, Timothy Taylor Landlord and Moorhouses Blond Witch. The Hawkshead was a fine pint, I had sampled a number of ales around the Lakes and wish I had chosen this one earlier!

A pub with potential, sadly lacking atmosphere.
Some good points are the childrens playground (Kendal is notorious for being anti-child, so a childrens playground is a bonus) and the views from the nearby Helm.
Bad points are bar prices and dire service from the barmaid. I won't be returning here after being ignored and then having to drink my drink in silence while the barmaid sat there texting away and completely blanking me.
A much better pub is the nearby Punchbowl. Just a shame they don't have a childrens playground :(

First of all, what a fantastic location. The steady climb up The Helm begins quite literally across from the pub.
15 minutes takes you to some fantastic views over the hills and dales. Another 15 minutes and you've reached the highest point of The Helm, with a view over Morecombe Bay.
We were booked in for one night B & B. The room was a decent size located within a farmhouse style building behind the pub.
We chose to eat in the locals part of the pub rather than the sterile restaurant and were kept entertained by the lighthearted Cumbria / Yorkshire banter.
The breakfast choice was extensive and very well served.
Only Wrongbow Cider on draught (nothing unusual there), but the Moorhouse's Blonde Witch was very tasty.
There is absolutely nothing in Oxenholme, besides the train station and this pub, but if you enjoy a bit of not too energy sapping hill walking with great views, this is well worth a one night stopover.

A brisk walk up from the station in the drizzle.Lots of literature in the pub about Tirral and other local breweries,but the beers on offer didnot include any local ales just rather boring Adnams,Charles Wells and Black Sheep.No food late afternoon,as the chef was out.Overall it looks nice,but not terribly impressed.Mind you better than sitting in the station.

Large, typical countryside pub a short walk from Oxenholme station, despite the name. It's pretty opened out although it has retained the feel of separate areas, these are traditionally furnished but are pretty spacious and not of particular architectural note. Also a more upmarket
Food plays a large role, with a menu served all day, but it's not a gastropub and you wouldn't feel out of place popping in for a pint.
Beer wise, Black Sheep, Copper Dragon Golden Pippin, Landlord and Theakston's XB were available on my visit- a solid selection of nothing spectacular. Landlord reliable as ever and much enjoyed on my visit.
All in all, a perfectly decent pub and definitely worth a punt if you're in the area, but nothing in particular to go out of your way for.

Once you get over the fact the Station Inn is nowhere near Oxenholme station and you have climbed up the steep road to reach it, you will be pleasantly surprised.
We came here for an excellent Easter Sunday lunch where the reasonably priced food was well above the average standard.
A thriving community spirit was clearly in evidence with a family fun day taking place in the spacious greenery adjacent to the pub.
Beers on tap included the usual lagers plus Moorhouse Blond Witch, Jennings Cumberland as well as a Dent ale.
Would heartily recommend a visit as it is easily accessibly by train from Kendal and Windermere. Also makes an excellent starting/finishing point for a walk up the nearby Helm which on a good day has views as far as Morecambe Bay which we were lucky enough to enjoy.

Visited this pub yesterday evening. Service was great, the staff friendly and the food was good too. The nice atmosphere and three descent brews rounded off a very pleasurable visit. Will call again

Andy,the landlord,has made an impressive start in his first year in business at The Station.The 'Sunday Dinners'are huge and the 'House Red'excellent.The previous comment about him being friendly is absolutely correct;well he would be wouldn't he,I spend forty quid every week in 'The Station'.No,seriously folks this place is well worth a visit and,if like us, you are dependent on public transport, it's also well worth the walk up the hill from the Railway Station -especially on a cold winter's night....so don't forget your torch.

The Station now has a new and friendlier landlord who is also showing an interest in the beer. Since Autumn we've now had Castle Eden, Landlord, Moorhouse Blond Witch and best of all at the moment Hawkshead Red (in addition to the Black Sheep and Tirril).

Absolutely fantastic food in a pub which is clearly very popular. Servings were generally huge and the food delicious. Worth a detour if you are in the area. Also has large playground outside.

This is a pleasant pub up a steep road through trees from Oxenholme station. The beer is Flowers Original, Black Sheep Bitter and Tirril Old Faithful which is fairly, rather than very, well kept. The surroundings are pleasant with a large smoke-free area both in an eating lounge and at the half of the bar and also a smoking area from the other half of the bar. Food is popular. It is underneath the Helm which makes a good brief stroll for views over Kendal to the Lake District hills.
