Situated in the tiny village of Cuxham, between Chalgrove and Watlington, The Half Moon has had a chequered history of late - alternating between country pub, French restaurant and closure. Happily enough it has made a return to the former and the internal décor creates a nice ambience. The only sour note was that the solitary ale - Brakspear Bitter - was on the turn.

Very much a foodie pub, can't comment about the food as we were just passing by and stopped for a drink. Seems to be very popular on a Saturday night. Large garden, with plenty of seating, that were we had to go as there was no space in the pub itself, good thing it was a nice warm evening. Sorry, but I hate pubs that go totally over to food and have no room for casual drinkers by the bar or at a few tables. Bar staff none to bright - asked for a dash of lemonade with my JD and got a glass full to the brim. Obviously, some training required!

What a great little pub. Small and very friendly. Food absolutely fantastic. Although I suggest you book if you do want to eat as it's very popular. Only down side is the lack of real ale. But I highly recommend this pub.

Used to be a run down dreary little pub, but has been made into a cosy warm place with a good sized garden during the warmer months. The food and 'feel' is rustic but every meal I've had has been exactly how it looks, hearty food cooked by someone who loves his flavours. This is not a rural retreat that has kept its character in the atmosphere and food If your planning a visit make sure you drive slowly through the village. Prices are a little high but you come away feeling you've had a good meal. I know thats sounds obvious, but try it. Some places are all fuss but little care.

Had a birthday dinner last week food was good, so was the service. Found drinks quite expensive though.

Top place - lovely food, nice beer and cracking owners.
A real pub, and one the whole village should be proud of.

didn't eat here as prices out of my reach and made to feel like a muppet

The Half Moon at Cuxham - wow what a find! The tenants have been there since May and have transformed the place. If you love your food and are looking for a relaxed, friendly atmosphere this is the place to find it. Fresh food cooked to order with the freshest ingredients. Even if you are just looking for a place to unwind and have a beer - this place is spot on. Beautiful garden and great ales - I just wish I lived closer!
