Good: The pub was happy to take our booking on a "pencil in" basis (we were travelling on a Bank Holiday Monday over a few hundred miles, including M25, and I wasn't sure where we might be at lunchtime). Look, location and atmosphere of the place was good too. Great beer (and other drinks - MIL requested cranberry juice which they had) and good menu (our party of 5 had roasts - beef and pork) choices. (More available than their website seems to suggest). Attentive service Not so good: Meal was a bit hit and miss, we all recognised that some meat was barely cooked (I'm not a fussy eater) which is (slightly) acceptable with beef, but not so with pork. Also the gluten free gravy consitituents had run out the previous day (fortunately my wife had appropriate cornflour and stock cubes to hand following our few days away). Y/shire puds were burnt in some places, fine in others, but veg and gravy tasted great. That said there was plenty of food that was edible per plate - so not a great issue - just a tad disappointing and means we'd probably not visit again (even though on a regular route we travel). I mentioned the food position to the staff, but felt they weren't really prepared to listen and they weren't prepared to consider any reduction in charge.

Love this pub. People are always friendly and polite. Food is fantastic and you get your money's worth! Nice to have the wood burner going in the winter. Fairly quiet place but well worth a visit.

New landlord who has obviously spent a lot on refurbishment. Very light and airy now plus an extension currently being built to house the new restaurant. Apparently same chef so food as good as before.

Not been in, but it's back OPEN, looks good and clean, from the outside, will have to make time to stop off sometime. I've known this place since 1976 and it's many changes, so it's good to see it open again.

Visited July08. Friendly but very slow service. Beer was Green King IPA- drinkable, but GK is rarely very special. The bar food was about the most expensive I've seen and was not good value. There are other pubs in the area that I'd use.

Proper pub - open fire, friendly landlord, great food, friendly to locals and dogs, limited beer range but the Old Hookey was very good (Greene King IPA was also available). Handy for lovely and historic village.

Been looking for ages for a local that does a good Sunday lunch with a good atmosphere and reasonably priced (around 8,50)and have found it here. Definately a place I will visit again when the inlaws etc come down.

This is how a pub should be, very welcoming. Good company, good food and good beer.

This place could do with a bit of soap and polish.

Nice enough pub, last one left in the village. RAF base just up the road doesn't spoil it. Green King IPA, Ruddles bitter, one other. Food, darts, jukebox.
