Bull, Braintreeback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
on a recent visit my partner and i fancied a couple of drinks, on entering we were struck by the awful musky smell emanating from the portion of the bar we were using. The drinks were expensive and the barmaid tried to charge for a drink but had forgotten to serve it. i WOULDNT TOUCH THE FOOD!! As usual there was 1 barperson not enough for a busy pub and its obvious the regulars get served first. The pub was recently renovated but to look at it you wouldnt think it had been, as it looks dank abd dirty inside.

At weekend nights and sports events it can be one to avoid. During the day a really nice place, has TV screens showing sport channels but quite and food is OK.

THE BULL IS A FRIENDLY, TRADITIONAL PUB WITH GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND A GREAT RANGE OF FOOD AND DRINK. DURING THE WARMER MONTHS THERE IS AN INVITING ALFRESCO DINING AREA AT THE FRONT OF THE PUB. THIS PUB CATERS FOR ALL TYPES OF PEOPLE FROM YOUNG FAMILIES, SPORTS FANS, QUIET DINERS AND LATE NIGHT REVELLERS. MY EXPERIENCE WAS RELAX AND FUN AT THE SAME TIME AND I WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM IN RECCOMMENDING IT.

Couldent agree more with grantus comments. Braintree.....a town full of Mugs
Moved here 4 years back & wish i hadent, this town breeds nothing but chav plebs, the bull being frequented by these types. Avoid if you fancy a decent pint & good service.
Havent been to the waggon but will give it a try.
Cheers

I agree totally, even tho' the post is over a year old. You should always avoid Braintree town centre on a Friday/Saturday night anyhow, unless you have a black belt in Origami. They breed them hard in Braindead, especially if there are at least 20 of them in a pack. However, the best pub in Braintree town centre is probably the Waggon & Horses in South Street - at least you won't get you teeth kicked in and the toilets are presentable. Tom, the Landlord, is a laugh and you always get a decent pint, even if it's Greedy King. Well worth the (short) walk, and you do get to avoid the Braintree dickheads/Dss/scroungers/single mums/drug dealers etc. Also, a good place to take the wife/mistress/partner, and it's got quite a nice beer garden. And it's handy for Tesco's. I've given the Bull one a point, 'cos it has a toilet. Or is it a toilet?

I WOULD JUST LIKE TO MAKE A FEW COMMENTS ABOUT THIS PUBLIC HOUSE. I THINK IT IS VERY BADLY RUN AND ON A VISIT I MUST ADMIT IT WAS QUITE BUSY IT SEEMED THE BAR STAFF AND ALSO SUPERVISORS/MANAGERS ALLWAYS SEEMEDTO SERVE PEOPLE THEY KNEW FIRST EVEN IF OTHERS INCLUDING MYSELF HAS BEEN WAITING AGES. THERE IS A NO SMOKING AREA BUT PEOPLE WERE SMOKING IN IT AND NO ONE SEEMED THAT BOTHERED. ALTHOUGH FOOD WAS ADVERTISED AS BEING SERVED UNTIL 10PM THE KITCHEN WAS CLOSED. CANT SAY IF THE DRINK WAS ANY GOOD AS I LEFT AFTER 15 MINS OF NOT BEING SERVED. A BAD EXAMPLE OF USUALLY A GOOD QUALITY BREWERY.
