Sited on a busy set of traffic lights, this place is now a cake shop. I did contemplate stopping by for a cake. But it was a bit too early in the day for that. Seemed to be some strange comings and goings in the car park.

Following my last review, the Cock and Bottle is definitely closed.

I new this pub as a teenager as a school friend's family ran it. Used to absolutely love it. It's certainly gone down hill since! It closed for a while, was reopened by the local Anglican Church as a sort of community centre with beer, then shut again, then reopened and whoever took over didn't know how to keep it in a fit state. Seats ripped out. Bald patches on the walls. Plaster crumbling. Remember a very young barmaid who looked like she didn't care and a very limited selection of beers on. This was at peak time on a Saturday and there was just me and my mate in. Not been back since.

This boozer is an impressive old building but could do with a bit of TLC to bring out its best character...

Has plenty of locals in attendance so has a real pub atmosphere which is great but as the previous poster states appears to have given up or reduced its support of real ales which is a shame.

The corn dolly does offer a better option

CAMRA National Inventory pub on a busy main road just outside Bradford city centre. It's a typically traditional multi-roomed local.

The pub sign indicates that this is a William Greenwood Brewing Company house, although there is nothing to indicate whether they still brewed beer or not.

Contrary to what I was expecting from the latest GBG entry, only was real ale was available on my lunchtime visit in mid - November, that being Moonshine from Abbeydale Brewery in Sheffield. The other 5 handpumps were unbadged. I got the impression it was mainly a locals' pub with little, if any, real ale trade.

There are some original features, including a fine bar back, and some nice etched windows, but the pub felt a bit run down and neglected to me and I'm not convinced it was worth the walk uphill.

Perhaps I came on a bad day, but with the Corn Dolly and Castle Hotel not too far away as competition, this won't be one of my first ports of call next time I'm in Bradford.

Love the atmosphere here - bit like a Black Country local, and a wonderful if slightly shabby interior. Barlady very friendly, customers boisterous but cheery. Only problem was the beer quality, with draught lager @ 1.40 a pint it looked like I was the only person sampling a marvellous looking beer range (Copper Dragon, Abbeydale, Daleside etc). No point acting like a specialist beer pub without the turnover, and I fear the real ale drinkers are sticking to Bradfords GBG regulars. Still, a must visit even if you have to drink lager !

Fantastic boozer. Great range of ales and very friendly staff. A group of around five of us were made to feel very welcome. Interesting little rooms and obvious history added to the atmosphere. If I didn't live 100s of miles away, I'd make it my local. Highly recommended.

Visited this pub at lunchtime on 26th January 2007. A fine, traditional interior greets visitors to this hostelry, and you are greeted by efficient businesslike staff. Of particular note are the fireplaces in each room and an internal back-lit stained-glass window in the smallest room.

I sampled two beers during my visit; Daleside Blonde, an exquisite 3.9% bitter, traditionally brewed to Yorkshire standards bitter first, hoppy afterwards and very smooth mouthfeel. The second beer was Skipton Copper Dragon Golden Pippin. Also 3.9%, it was light, refreshing and hoppier than the Daleside; the two beers complemented each other well.

This pub is well worth the effort of finding, and would be an ideal place to start a crawl or indeed spend your entire evening if so you desired.

Occasional live music is advertised check with pub staff.

Recommended for its beer range and its traditional internal design I would return tomorrow if in Bradford.

9/10

Great beer choice and a classic West Yorkshire multi roomed layout.

The place is definitely open, but good-beer-guide advertized opening hours are out-of-date. A fine beer range, also live music on some nights, i.e. Thurs evening.

Seabrooke crisps sold here, that's another good thing. Pub is split up into separate rooms giving the idea of drinking in someones house.

Camra Good-beer-guide (07) says the pub is open until midnight every day, but the pub definitely shuts at 11 on Thurs nights.

I was in just before Christmas and if it was shut it was a flipping good acid flashback, and I never took acid.

I hear this place has now closed. Anyone know anything more?

Astonishingly good beer and range. One of the top two for beer in the city. A little out of the way (and up a hill), but repays a visit. Decor is unspoilt but not homely. Landlord generally friendly, staff less so. Last time we were there the radio was deafening, and playing only adverts. A hidden gem really, but not without its flaws.

13 Real Ales, little rooms with doors so you can have a conversation, even the "disco" and tv don't intrude. Recommended.
