Marston's pub in a nice village setting, albeit very close to the busy A63. Inside there were plenty of people enjoying meals. We sat outside enjoying the last of the day's rays of sunshine. But it was getting decidedly chilly. Ales were all from the Marston's stable - Sunbeam, Boon Doggle, Forty Niner & Hobgoblin Gold. This was far better than the new Marston's identikit pub called the Sandpiper just down the road in Melton which is not listed on here. We also moved on to the Hase in Hessle and the Beech Tree in Kirk Ella. Neither are listed on here. But I actually rated the former as my favourite pub of the day.

They do some great beers in here, but they swap em too often. Food is a bit dull, but this is a chain pub and they get a new manager every few months.

Furniture now recovered so the interior looks much better. Restaurant still very good quality, and prices have not gone up as much as other nearby hostelries, so my rating goes up a point!

Very old coaching in with a lot of history (Dick Turpin was arrested here). Always has 2 or 3 well kept real ales on offer, and has a good restaurant with an excellent menu and range of wines.
It was renovated a few years ago so is now a mixture of old beams and industrial chic which somehow seems to work. The upholstery on some of the sofas looks a bit tatty now (why use leathercloth rather than leather - the price is not much different?) Well worth a trip out, and close to some good country walks if you're that way inclined.

Stayed here again on our annual visit to the area. Lovely rooms, friendly helpful staff, good food too. David & Linda have got it well sown up when it comes to professional management of an hotel.

Just spent a night here and reckon this is one of the best pub/hotels around East Yorkshire. A warm sincere welcome from the landlord, lovely clean well appointed room. Very good food, served quickly and well presented and HOT! My partner said the beer was excellent with an extensive choice and was well presented. Good choice of wines too.Very friendly staff, they seem to make you feel welcomed and go out of their way to be helpful.

Very enjoyable meal washed down with some good quality beer. The landlord was on of the most pleasant chaps I have ever met.Highly recommended for family, couples or just on your own. A very warm welcome is guaranteed.

Lunch today. Reasonable selection of cask beers. Marston's Pedigree was good but not great. Centuries old coaching inn - looks great from the outside but now run by a chain and had the interior 'standardised' - clean but no atmosphere. Food was fair to middling - roast potatoes must have been cooked at braekfast time - almost liquid inside!

great pub, first class food, but not many locals in,cask beer on top form you must give it a try

What a shame - its a nice building but the decorators wrecked it a few years ago and its lost all its atmosphere. Got live music on a Friday, but iot just attracts the yobs. Foodies have taken over really, or people staying the night. Got real ales, but a very strange manager called John. He made it clear that he doesnt like us girls in 'his' pub!

Been today for lunch, great selection of cask ales and the food was really tasty.
Had the chefs game pie and the lady had a bruschetta.
The breads were tasty too.
Glad to see the place turned around from what it was.

Recently reopened. Internal decor is very bare, like a village hall. slow service. Good beer range. Food served cold.
