Thursday morning had brunch here. Service was perfect. Happy helpful staff. Two large breakfasts arrived quickly and well cooked and presented. Had water and Pepsi with meal. An after brunch was required and the two half pints of ales were very well kept. No complaints will be back.

Wetherspoon's pub in the Marina development to the east of Brighton. This pub is split over a couple of levels and enjoys nice views of the marina. Unusually, it doesn't have the typical 'spoons interior. Ales were Greene King Abbot & IPA, Sharp's Doom Bar, Westgate Conkers, Banks & Taylor SOS, Long Man Wild Man, Firebird Heritage & Dark Star Revelation. Ciders were Black Dragon & Old Rosie. 7/10.

A Saturday afternoon visit to this huge & well appointed 'spoons in Brighton Marina.
This was my first visit and I was more than impressed. Yes it is a ‘spoons so the food is standard fair, on my visit there were 5 ales on the 10 hand pumps with the service from the many staff very quick and efficient. I had a few pints of Butcombe’s Atlantic IPA @ 5.0% which was extremely drinkable.
As pointed out by other reviewers there’s a gothic feel to the interior of this place and it works really well. Tiled floor to a large open dining area with the toilets on the ground floor which is usually not the case with ‘spoons pubs. But I guess as this is a purpose built pub they for once though about where the toilet’s would be located.
There’s a large frontage with tables and chairs over looking the marina and the boats, this was not used during my visit as the rain was teeming down but it’s still a nice outlook over the marina.
A thoroughly good pub.

Visited this place with my wife last Friday - around 6pm. Took a table upstairs. We both had the salmon fillet from the main menu, and shared a bottle of white wine. I was offered an ice bucket, but said no as the wine was cold enough. Good meal, served with a jacket potato and salad. Very comfortable surroundings, will definitely go again.

Oct/Nov 2012. Gothic styling. Good views. Reclaimed and carved wood. Interesting. Standard Wetherspoon food and beer selection.
|
OK its a Spoons so it is what it is in terms of beers and food but its location, excellent staff and prices make it one of the best in the country. It was a grim day outside but it was a warm welcome inside and great view of the sea trying to gain access to all those nice yachts over the seawall.

Beautiful wetherspoons in perfect location. Lovely day yesterday down here in sun. Guinness and service so fab. Hot dogs all round.
|
in for one last saturday, disappointing selection, butthe arundel beer we tried was a good un.

Terrible service by disdainful, miserable and sometimes downright rude staff. Food is somewhat mediocre, but keenly priced. Good selection of ales and cracking view of the marina

This is probably one of the best situated Spoons I have visited in my travels having as it does, a commanding position overlooking the length of Brighton Marina. Formerly a pub called Jackson's Wharf, which opened in 1998, it converted to a Wetherspoons in 2004. On two levels, both having an excellent outside veranda area to sit on and stare at the boats, seagulls and people walking the boardwalk of this part of the marina. Inside its the usual plastic chain pub design with the usual cheap but very cheerful plastic spoons menu. But good on it for that, because when sitting on the Veranda in bright sunshine, staring at the view a pint of real ale at under 2.00 is a positive steal for the location. I think I counted the usual 12 handpumps in two banks of 6 along the separated bar services and the usual Wetherspoons house beers were complemented by a couple of local real ales. Visited twice, once at lunchtime and then again late evening during my visit to the Marina and the service was OK on this midweek day, but cannot comment to what it may be like at the weekend. However I did get the impression when back in the evening that, due to the fact that it is some way out of town and you have to drive to it, it doesnt convert to a nightclub for the Brighton Youf like the other spoons situated in the town centre and the evening crowd seemed to be more mature and no bouncers required on the doors of this one.

This place is so good with the sun shining. Very busy last night, lovely staff did well. Nice cold cider for me in this weather. Try it you will like it.
|
Very nice lunch in here yesterday. good guinness and my patners said his ale was good. Love this place and setting, romantic. Nice staff and service, hot guys, yes.
|
far too cheap for such a great location.
|
Thought the whole marina and this Wetherspoons horrid. Beer choice was not good for someone who tries to get away from the standard fare and the quality of what we had was poor. Left hurridly and returned by the Volks Railway to the querky end of Brighton
|
The better spoons in Brighton though remember its by the marina a little out of town. Local beers supported, enough staff but kept busy. Outside seating overlooking marina. Next to bus stops.
|
Probably the nicest looking Wetherspoons. Pity the upstairs bar was shut even though it was crowded downstairs. A couple of guest beers on offer but one was off. This place could be so much better but unfortunately it seems to be a magnet for the tea and coffee brigade.

Popped in here for a quick drink and to warm up after a breezy Sunday afternoon walk along the seafront. A very pleasant Wetherspoons, probably the largest I've been in, and there was a good atmosphere. Considering the business, it was clean and service was efficient. Plenty of real ales to choose from, with four different bars over two floors. Recommended

I went today with my wife, I had the gourmet burger and beer and she had a jacket potato.
Both were excellent value for money and tasted lovely, great atmosphere and very clean. Had the Ruddles as came with the burger and that was a good pint.
Recommended.

Went to the West Quay last friday for some food before going to the cinema. I work in the Pub Trade myself, and I have to say that at half 7 at night i was amazed by the cleanliness, standards and quality of the food that a WETHERSPOONS was offering!!! Not often you see a clean wetherspoons at that time on a friday night!! Food was of a good quality - they have definately improved their food suppliers!! Only small complaint was the selection of Real Ales, but they have a beer festival on from next week anyway so im not too disappointed!!!!

Very pleasant Wetherspoons. On a Thursday lunchtime, sat indoors in the sun overlooking the marina with a perfectly served pint of Pedigree. Usual food menu and our order arrived promptly. Varied clientele made this a lovely surprise.

As other reviews have suggested, this pub is something of a mixed bag, owing to its sheer size and the scale of its daily trade. This place may be busy at any time of day & week, and employs a lot of people, with some turnover of staff and of course employees from a number of nations, so do expect a variety of styles of service! My recent experiences have been *very* prompt service, in fact, and only one miserable sod having a bad day at the bar. The drinks offer huge variety & value, the food is good value, but if you eat outside the exposure to sea breezes means that it will go cold very quickly.
I hate to let you into a secret, but upstairs is much nicer than downstairs. Don't spread it around... We really enjoy it here.

Went to this pub recently and sat on the balcony upstairs - amazing views! We ordered food and it came in about 10 minutes - a beer and burger for a fiver and lasagne for 2.99 with a voucher. Really good value. only down side was the lad that served us was possibly the most miserable person ive ever seen behind a bar - just grunted and barely looked at us!The girl that served us the second time was much friendlier though and very polite.

A really good pub with the most amazing views you will get at any wetherspoons. The decor is wonderful and the pub has an amazing atmosphere. It hit a slump in the summer but is on the up and up with what seems to be a whole new set of management. well worth a visit.
|
Stopped here for a quick drink this lunchtime (Boxing Day). Typical Weatherspoons chain pub but in a good location. Beer accetable but not particularly exciting. Food looked mediocre and the same as you get in most chain pubs (we just had some cheesy chips (keeps the teenagers happy!) which took a while to arrive and were unremarkable). Staff were looking gnereally bored and not very intersted in serving (our barmaid could just about manage a grunt!). OK if you are desperate but no better.
|
went to this pub on a wednesday night for a friends leaving do, and was pleasantly surprised. Great atmosphere friendly bar staff and great location.
|
As someone who works locally I would say the problem is that the Marina has become massivelymore popular all day round in the last 3 years. The West Quay simply cant or wont cope with the numbers. As a Wetherspoons you get what you expect - but to be fair its a lot better than most Wetherspoons and many similar pubs in town.
|
On a previous visit I collected a menu and was told there was a half hour wait for food "Ok" says I. We made our choice and returned to the bar to order "No more orders I'm afraid, problems in the kitchen" says the barman.Methinks they were overloaded! Tried again last Sunday, food arrived in 15 mins, excellent roast beef and my partner had the roast chicken. Massive platefull ,only let down was that there wasn't enough gravy. But hey! For 5.99 with a choice of drink included, who's moaning. One of the nicer Wetherspoon locations, great to sit outside and watch the boats.

Eaten here before, you get what you pay for really, returned recently for a drink in the evening, very very rude young barman, staff need some attention, looking at the managger at the time, he wasn't the person to sort it out!

Left this pub on Sunday convinced I had just spent the last hour in a Wetherspoon's pub. Did it used to be one?, it has all the hallmarks...cheap beer, real ale, cheap food, crap service. Several King's beers on offer, I enjoyed two very nice pints of West Quay ale. I didn't eat here but I heard the barman/girl (couldn't tell) inform someone that there was a 45 minute wait for food. The place was pretty heaving possibly due to the crap weather and there was only one person serving behind the bar. I would possibly return to this pub for the beer but nothing else.
|
Yes it's a chain pub & the staff aren't all that good. But get a table in the area overlooking the marina & it's not half bad - We had lunch there last week, 4 adults & 2 kids for 35 - 2 steaks, pasta, chicken ceasar salad & 2 kids meals. All very tasty. I'll be back. If it's sunny you'll need shades.
|
This is a LLoyds No 1 pub. Fantastic location with wonderful views over the sea and marina. Unfortunatly that's it. Staff useless, Manager rude, beer off, food no good. Take a walk around and take in the sights then bugger off somewhere else for a beer.
