The Old Thameside Inn, London Bridge

I've been here a number of times over the years, usually as a part of a crawl of some sort, and I have to say I have always enjoyed the experience - in spite of being an afficionado of good real ale, which some of the reviewers here seem to think might be absent from this pub. Sit outside, next to the Golden Hinde, and ignore the weather. Watch the river go by. Wonder why someone was allowed to put a huge office building between the ship and the cathedral, killing half the view. Nothing wrong with the pub that I've noticed, except that it is popular. Calm down. Order two pints. Smile.

The West Quay, Brighton

As other reviews have suggested, this pub is something of a mixed bag, owing to its sheer size and the scale of its daily trade. This place may be busy at any time of day & week, and employs a lot of people, with some turnover of staff and of course employees from a number of nations, so do expect a variety of styles of service! My recent experiences have been *very* prompt service, in fact, and only one miserable sod having a bad day at the bar. The drinks offer huge variety & value, the food is good value, but if you eat outside the exposure to sea breezes means that it will go cold very quickly.

I hate to let you into a secret, but upstairs is much nicer than downstairs. Don't spread it around... We really enjoy it here.
