This pub has obviously changed dramatically from when these other reviews were posted.
This pub is friendly and has a great atmosphere. It attracts many Welsh speakers and Irish speakers, but I've only ever found them to be pleasant.
The beer is very good, I always stick to the Felinfoel Double Dragon. There is one other beer I believe.
Its worth visiting this pub for the music night upstairs every tuesday evening. Extremely welcoming and friendly, the informal set up means you just bring an instrument, some material or just yourself to perform! One of the best live music nights in Aberystwyth - it even attracts people from miles away!

beware of the Horrible landlady

A great little pub. OK so it's changed a lot from how it used to be - i.e. it's CLEAN now! Brilliant landlady and bar staff who keep the place spotless and serve great Felinfoel Double Dragon superbly kept. Always shows the rugby on TV.

this used to be a character pub......But...a re-furb and a change of management has disimproved the place!

**Beware**
They're trying to pass off some of the handpulls as genuine, when in fact all you get is nitrokeg.
Poor show.

Has had a refit, but service is ropey and the beer is still crap.

Only been here a handful of times, quite nice friendly pub.

UPDATE - The wall has been painted!!!

A Felinfoel pub with no MILD, a pity really could only find Felinfoel MILD locally at the "Welsh Black" in the village of Bow Street.

A very popular place with the Welsh-speaking population in Aber, though I've always struggled to see why. It's small, pokey, nicotine stained, shabby looking and has cigarette smoke permanently lingering in the air.
Occasional live music upstairs and a real ale (the ubiquitous Double Dragon) gives it a bonus point.
Once bottle green on the outside, one of the walls was rebuilt a few years ago and left an unpainted concrete grey like some East german tenement. In a town where brightly coloured buildings are the norm, I think it's that lack of pride in the pub's appearence that sums the place up.

Basic street corner local, unusual for Aber
