Still as good as the last two reviews suggest

Enjoyable night out with friends. A place I will visit again and again as the atmosphere was great. The staff could not do enough for us the food was excellent, well presented, tasted wonderful and served in no time. The menue offered a good range of tastes and did not overwhelm you with a huge range of choices which helped our choices greatly. My steak was cooked just as I like, locally brought we we're informed.

Great food, much better than the other Swan in Newport.

More like a library than a pub, no atmosphere

This pub has changed hands this year and had a refurb. It was a very popular good pub before but the interior now is a lot better (more up market). The beer and food is excellent. The Swan is definitely aimed at dining rather than social drinking. You will be lucky to get a seat on a weekend evening unless you've booked a table for a meal. The grand piano playing does add to the whole experience but it is too loud for conversation if you are seated anywhere near it.

This is simply the poshest pub I have ever been in. Old coaching inn, with restaurant and conservatory. It says on the door that it offers an 'experience' and that goes from the lady playing the piano in a style of 1950s elegance to the gift shop. Large emphasis on food, but despite this, both the food and the drinks are reasonably priced, and of excellent quality.
