Okay but the place really needs a new lick of paint, a bit dingy. They totally messed up our order and the food was below average. Won't be coming back again!

Very popular village pub, also a destination for people from Medway who want a decent pint in quiet surroundings. The bar food is good value, but I've not eaten in the restaurant - it appears more hen-night and office party style than fine cuisine, a suspicion reinforced by the menu.
I had a few decent pints of Sheps. Of the four pumps on the bar, only two were in use, and the (rather rude) barmaid said the other two were only for show.
This was my first visit to the Rose and Crown for over 10 years, but I'm pleased to say that it is still a fine establishment worth spending an evening in if all you want to do is relax and chat to friends over a few (well kept) beers.

Irene and Roger and Family are back at The Rose and Crown, and the food and drink eating in the restaurant are excellent.
we look forward to returning for another sunday lunch.

Visited the Rose & Crown on Sunday after a family walk. Heard it was under new management so was anxious but I really shouldn't have been. It's a lovely pub, very welcoming, warm, friendly and relaxing. We had a Sunday lunch there and the food was fantastic. They were advertising an a la Carte menu and if Sunday lunch is anything to go by then I would highly recommend the pub for food. Someone mentioned the new manager was a chef so that explains the food. An excellent pub, especially for great value food.

Have not visied since the change of management. Previous landlady was off putting to say least. No complaints about the beer.

Visited at the weekend. Has re-opened under new management. Cosy bar with the promise of a menu in the very near future. Will be going back soon with a hungry belly to fill !!

This pub used to be lovely, but not these days, sadly rundown and tired looking. Not very friendly, and stop serving food 2.30 Sundays dont really seem to be customer friendly people as quite rude. Wont be going back anytime soon

Good family run pub. Pleasant and friendly atmosphere. Real kentish ales kept in top order. Great Sunday Lunch and good home cooked food.
Worth a visit!

This is probably a former Trumans house from the look of it. It was quite busy at lunchtime today despite its rural location, with plenty of food customers. The wood-burning stove in the bar gave the place the feel of a pub before the smoking ban and perhaps that is the effect that is being aimed for. I had a pint of Kents Best and a bowl of serviceable soup and a ham sandwich. A nice touch or an incredibly naff one, depending on your point of view, was the way that R & C had been spelt out with cream on the top of the tomato and basil soup.

A good English Pub, serving real beers, where the regulars make you feel welcome. Also well behave dos are welcome.

Sadly, this pub has started going downhill in last few months. Nice location and ambience, but not welcoming with mine hosts cancelling what had been a good quiz nite and losing further trade as a result.

Country pub just outside the village of Hartlip on the outskirts of Rainham (Medway), though the postal address is Sittingbourne. Has a boules pitch in the beer garden, and a space for tying up your horse in the car park. Popular for unpretentious Sunday lunches. There's nothing grand, special or unique about the pub, but it's quietly pleasant, relaxed and informal.
