Another decent suburban pub bites the dust. The County had a go at being a community pub a Gastro pub and a regular boozer. What hope is there?

When I first came to this pub 20 years ago it was not uncommon for it to be packed three nights a week and Sunday lunchtimes. I guess those days are over, but if any pub in the area deserves to be full this is it.
The new owners(managers?) have turned this into a venue with a great community feel. The food is excellent and the chef goes out of his way to make sure you're happy. The staff, mostly young, attractive and female are helpful and just the right side of friendly. There seem to be events most evenings and the Jazz nights on Sunday are excellent. One critiscism is the beer. Although they sell a variety of beers from the local Ha'penny brewey (less than a mile away, which is worthy of praise in itself) there are times when demand exceeds supply. This is a small quibble and would not stop me giving them my custom in preference to any of their rivals in the locality.

Over the past couple of months ago The County has gone from strength to strength, Live Jazz on a Sunday evening, Good home cooked food, Quiz night Thursday, Karaoke on Friday, Sky TV, pool table, comfy seats.a roaring fire and great ale.

Friendly hosts and efficient, lively, bar staff. If you're looking for a good meal and a nice pint The County is THE place to go.

Lovely staff, really friendly; decent chips after food closing; jazz on Sundays! Not much of a real ale fanatic when I'm this close to home (save that for the countryside proper) but the Becks was cold, the sofas comfortable, the fire warm and the TV was showing La Liga.

Good times.

Before popping in here on Saturday afternoon I spotted a sign outside saying that it had reopened the day before. Im glad that it had as although it is not a pub that is going to win any awards I found it to be relaxing and the governor to be a friendly enough chap.

As I had been on Guinness for most of the day I decided to sample a pint of theirs and it was very nice. Greene King IPA and Old Speckled Hen were also available alongside San Miguel, Staropramen, Gaymers pear and apple ciders and a selection of standard lager.

There is no Sky Sports and the only TV was a small portable on the bar that was showing the womans tennis final at Wimbledon. There is a piano that had some books piled on top of it that were available to borrow for a small donation, Im not sure how much small is or where this money goes. There is also a pool table in a room to the side the leads to a partially covered and decked area outside that houses a small BBQ. There is a very big garden/field out the back that has a few picnic tables by the other rear exit, but this needs some work doing to it to be considered a beer garden.

I wouldnt go out of my way to drink here again, but I would use it if I lived locally.

Was pleased and surprised to see a beer from the west country brewer Hidden here, alongside the less inspiring GK IPA and Directors. Food was no great shakes, but better than I expected in a traditional real ale desert.

This pub has got to be the best around by far. You can always guarantee to find a warm welcome from staff and regulars alike. A friendly atmosphere awaits anyone who goes there. The recent improvements to this pub are great and the beer garden is out of this world! Get down there and see for yourself!! lots of continental beers and plenty of wines for the ladys. when ever i go there i see the manager chatting to customers good to see that now day's if you do end up going there try the Erdinger beer fantastic!!!!!!!!!

This is by far the best pub in the Ilford area (and I have been to most all of them!). The food is a welcome departure from your average pub grub with great presentation and fresh, seasonal ingredients. And it is cheap!

Great beer selection, patio and decor makes for a pleasant weekday drink or Saturday night out.

Apparently vastly improved from its previous guise. Now has an excellent range of continental beers/lagers and a very good wine list. Smart decor, big sofa's and good food too.

Luckily my mate lives right behind it - so plenty of excuses to make a visit.

I liked this pub because I was able to talk to my mates without shouting over the laud pop music and I loved the food, I also liked the seating areas with them big soffas, getting served at the bar was fine with only minor delays. Overall the pub was excellent and I will be going there more often.
