This is one of those establishments that call themselves a "pub". But, like the Windmill Tavern in East Hanningfield, almost every table had cutlery and place mats. Isn't that a restaurant ? And where is the poor drinker suppose to sup his pint ?

Two real ales - including a very poor pint of Abbott. The coke tasted like soda and needed more syrup.

There are better country pubs, hereabouts, selling better beer, and at less expensive prices.

No - Not for me !

We went to this pub today to meet the daughter after shopping in Maldon. We ordered 4 baguettes which took an hour to arrive, when we left just pointed it out to barman who disagreed,he said they were very busy ,only 4 tables occupied.we will not be returning as there are better pubs in the area.

A fantastic olde worlde, proper English pub that has most definitely survived the test of time and seems to be doing very well. I visited here at the weekend and the Sharps Honey Gold was as good a tasting of real ale as I can ever remember. not getting carried away but there has to be winners and losers and maybe I just caught it good but their ale was sublime and the place is really charming and not pretentious. This was the best beer i've tasted in many, many a year sio hats off to the landlady and landlord and the well groomed serving staff. Possibly a bit of heaven on earth, I loved it. Don't die first before you visit this pub, it's that kind of place to go, see and delight in. Magnificent.

Lovely old fashioned village pub. Abbot and Mighty Oak IPA were the real ales on offer, I had a decent pint of the latter. I was in early evening and just a couple of other punters were there supping a pint. I suspect they rely mainly on food trade at busy times.

Very nice location and a very nice exterior but other than that not much else.Inside it's just a sterile bar with no atmosphere. The beer range was pretty poor and the pint of Everards was very insiped.Basically not worth a visit if you like a decent pint.May be ok if you want food.

Good village pub. Greene King IPA, Wadworths 6X and at least one other beer on hand pump. Good rural prices. Average service. Wholesome pub grub that's hard to fault.

Spacious garden, with kids's play area. Barbeque area. Adequate parking.
