gud food, nice garden by the river perfect 4 chillin in the summer with a few bevvies!!

This is by far the best place for a drink by the river, and a real favourite for alfresco dining in the summer .......there's also an Art Event on 9 & 10 May 2009 (Norfolk Open Studios). I just found out that it was from this garden John Crome painted On The River Yare A View of the Kings Head Gardens in 1803. (on view in Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery). The riverside location is an idylic spot for art, food drink... and a bit of history - The Rivergarden dates back to 1678!

Visited this pub/restaurant a couple of years ago and it was very pleasant. A large selection of very nice food and the beer wasn't bad either.
Sadly... I visited again recently and it must be under new management as suggested in other reviews. The menu is very limited. If you want basic burgers, pizzas and baguettes then this is the place for you. I am not a fan of Weatherspoons but if you want a better selection of passable food then pay them a visit.
Its a real shame as this pub could be a great place. Its just stuck between being a restaurant and being a pub and doing neither particularly well. Hopefully the management will sort things out and make a move towards one or the other rather than trying to do both. Its the reason why there were only a few people visiting.

v.nice pub/restaurant. unfortunately we were the only people in there on the night we visited. food was quite fancy and the nelsons revenge was fine.
|
hideous marquee now covers the garden and although there were only 10 people having a BBQ we were told that there was no food as it was to busy for the chefs. ~Understand it has had a bmanagement change in the last year but definately not for the better

Lovely pub, great service and friendly staff. Beer is reasonably priced. Not too far from carrow road either for footy. Only issue is that bar area is VERY small. Never too busy tho

previously the Kings Head, renamed in 2000. emphasis on food but serves a range of drinks including 2 real ales and 2 white beers. Huge hidden garden behind the pub. Good stop off point for the football ground being only 20 mins walk away.
