Popped in for a swift half whilst waiting for the bus. First time we'd seen the place open, comfortable enough, had Blue Monkey BG Sips. Pub husky took a liking to our Westie, ? sizing him up for tea??

Visited with friends Sat 18th August 2012. Interior looking a bit "tired", but food and beer is excellant and view over the River from patio second to none. Peak Ales - Swift Nick 3.8% was our favourite, and Sheperd Neame Whitstable Bay a close second. There were also other guests available.

Nice pint of Peak Ales Swift Nick when called in. Liked this pub.
|
Lunchtime visit - 3 real ales, all local. Had a pint of Swift Nick and Crystal Ball, both well kept which I enjoyed with a reasonably priced baguette on the patio overlooking the River Derwent.
|
I don't see why this pub is listed with all the other pubs in Bath, Somerset, when it is miles away in Derbyshire.
|
Decent selection of ales though staff can be stand-offish at times. Nice garden though.
|
Seemed much improved from my last visit a couple of years ago. A choice of real ales in good condition and I thought it felt a bit friendlier on my latest visit.

Reasonable pub. Riverside beer garden. Food edible but not special.

The service here is slow and the locals get served first. ts nice to sit outside in the summer but thats about it.

having read the previos comments we thought we'd at least drop in for a quick beer on the way back from the heights. To say the last reviewer was spot on is an understatement. It smelt of over cooked cabbage, the staff were just plain rude (it took nearly 2 minutes just to recognise i was stood at the bar and it wasnt exactly busy)
on the plus side however, the good news is theres a pub right across the road which has some great beers on tap. well worth leaving whats left of your pint and crossing the road without looking back

very curmudgeonly old bar staff when i went in, and a disgusting greasy chip smell pervading the place despite only 2 people dining at the time. very expensive bar meals despite all being accompanied by chips and frozen garden peas. pub has only limited opening times. appear to be actively discouraging customers whilst i was there.

Well-located pub in the middle of Matlock Bath, with a terrace and conservatory overlooking the River Derwent. Refreshing pint of 'Dino & Pete's Breakfast Blonde' from the Derby Brewing Company (created for two local radio DJs to raise 10p per pint for the Clic Sargent charity). Reasonable place, if not especially welcoming.

Went for their Sunday carvery whilst visiting matlock, staff rude, no please and thankyous and rubbish with kids. Refused to heat our daughters baby food up claiming it was for "health and safety" reasons, the first pub we have come across that doesn't do this! What is she supposed to do, starve?

As regular visitors to Matlock, this is our favourite place to eat, chill with a pint and stay over for weekends. The staff are really welcoming and friendly. You wont get a better breakfast anywhere in the area and their daytime menu has a great variety with generous portions. A bonus for us is that pets are welcome too. Even though we live over 30 miles away, we consider the Midland our local!

Big pub that gets seriously busy in the summer (it's next to the railway station and has a drinking terrace over the river Derwent). Slightly on the pricey side for the area, but has good atmosphere and decnt beer.
