Arrived at this place to see a bus load of revellers just departing. Most were in fancy dress. I guess it was probably a stag party. Inside those customers that remained all seemed pretty sizzled, all singing to songs coming on the jukebox. The barmaid completely blanked me. She seemed more interested in partaking in the free snacks on the bar than doing any work. Luckily a guy appeared and took my order. With Young''s London Gold & Special & Courage Directors, I was spoilt for choice! The multi-roomed interior was a bit of a mess, presumably as they had been so busy. But the munching barmaid was clearly in no mood to make it any more respectable. Or maybe it''s always in that state when they open up each day! Handy for the nearby station. But easily the worst pub of the day.

Popped off the train to check this place out, have to say average at best.

Poor drinks choice and felt a little rough, won't be coming back.

4/10

It's 2014 and this pub has undergone dramatic change - for the better! The new landlord has made considerable changes through a lot of graft! It is now very much a community/family pub and often packed at weekends and busy in the week. The pub has been cleaned, decorated inside and out and offers a range of themed days and evenings. I noticed that they have open mike nights and bbq/family events on Sundays, often with live music. There is food available, Sunday dinner and other meals in the week. There is a resident skittles and pool team which is bringing in the punters. The atmosphere is good, safe, relaxed and nothing like it was a few years ago when it had another owner and a very bad rep. If you haven't ben back since those dark times give it a try! The staff are friendly and helpful, the regular customers have always chatted in a friendly way. A really lovely family pub - but don't worry!! It isn't over run with kids, that is generally on a sunny Sunday when the bouncy castle is out! You can certainly see that the new landlord has put in time, care and a lot of hard work in order to turn this very comfortable and attractive pub around! Well worth a visit is you are getting a train - 2 mins walk away, or fancy a wind down when arriving on a train!

Visited here recently, found four ales in excellent condition, and the staff or licenees were friendly. The pub was nowhere near as busy as it used to be for a Thursday evening but then, what pub is these days since the introduction of the government and CAMRA supported smoking ban.

more than impressed when i visited the place last month while waiting for a train(saved waiting with the chav fare-evading scum on the platform!)

A welcoming slightly chavvy barmaid greeted me,and opted for a pint of Bombardier(2.60), one other ale was available. Who would have thought that it would be one of the best kept pints of Bombardier that i had ever sampled! good jukebox aswell with 5trax 4 1. 6/10

Visited The Coopers for the first time in a year or so last week. Sad to see a place decline so fast. The staff were slow, rude and frankly looked unclean. Very few of the regulars who used to use the place still there. The beer was poor, and resulted in me feeling unwell the following day. Sad to say, but avoid at all costs.

well worth avoiding.
It used to be a favourite with the camra boys tho' I could never understand why.
If you're waiting for a train at the nearby station it's better to just stay where you are.

with it being situated 100 yards from the railway station, that is the best thing i can add to this pub,i must add the ale quality was of poor standard and with bar staff more intrested in tv or their mobile phones, getting served here is a work of art in itself.avoid it really.

The Coopers has had mixed fortunes over the past year, following a couple of changes of landlord and a brush with the unsavoury side of Highbridge. Some concessions to modernity have followed, including installation of satellite TV, security cameras and an outdoor smoking shelter. Beer range continues to vary, but unfortunately quality is not always up to scratch. The Coopers is now a very quiet pub in a fantastic location next to the railway station. Let's hope the lure of redevelopment doesn't spring to S&N's mind!

Down-to-earth real ale pub, probably the only reason you might consider visiting Highbridge! Visited on Sunday, 9th April to find the place busy with a skittles game in progress (which is always good to see). Good range of real ales (I was delighted to find "Sheepshagger's Gold", which was well-kept and a real treat) but I nearly left without trying them as the only one with a badge on the pump was London Pride! Talk about hiding your light under a bushel! Fortunately I remembered there was a board listing their beers, tucked away at the side of the bar, but I wonder how many of their customers have walked away disappointed? Service was good, the barmaid was polite, friendly and poured an excellent pint (waited for it to settle, topped it up without having to be asked and apologised for the wait). All in all worth a visit, even if some of the clientele do look a bit dodgy!

best pub in highbridge? guest beers, skittle alley, hall for hire, sitting out area, lounge and bar. Real handy for Highbridge & Burnham railway station
