Very lively Hydes pub visited quite late on a Friday night. Good enough local boozer, not enough to attract us to go back to Gatley any time soon though.

Ive never been to the Beer Festivals when only one beer is served at a time, and Ive been going for a few years. This is without doubt the best pub in Gatley, even when there is no festival on,They always have 2 Guest beers available and always on top form. The Landlord and Lady are always welcoming ,All I can say is visit the Pub for yourself,You wont be dissapointed

Went to this pub on the opening day of the week-long supposed "Beer Festival" and was astounded to find that the list of beers on the blackboard were to be served one at a time until it had gone and then be replaced by the next on the list. As there was only half a dozen people in on a Festival Saturday afternoon then it would probably take a month before any one person could sample the whole list. A single rotating guest beer does not a festival make! The surly landlady and landlord did not exactly exude friendliness either. The first and definitely last visit we will be making.

This pub is now by far,the best place in Gatley,Great ale and always a guest ale on tap. The Sunday carvery is well worth the price. The staff are very freindly exept for one young chap who always looks as though hes got the world on his shoulders.

Proper pub. Good selection of Hydes beers. Visited for the recent beer festival and had a couple of good pints, including the Farrier Festival Ale. Food typical pub fodder.

Probably the best all round pub in Gatley. It's certainly the best one for food, and is where I will go for a long Sunday lunch with the family.
The beer is OK (not as good as the Gothic) but with its better decor etc it is aiming for a more upmarket crowd, and suceeds.

Please read the tragic tale of The Horse And Farrier.
Since the Horse And Farrier (a decent boozer a few years ago) modernised it's interior to resemble a 'Little Chef' not only have the clientele changed (from normal working class folk to abnormal wanna-be toff's) but the prices have sky rocketed into oblivion (charging over 2.70 for a pint of Strongbow). Although the ale isn't too bad, the friendly atmosphere it once had has diminished due to Hydes' obsession with profit.
Basically, I'll sum it up, with prices that even Bill Gates can't afford, staff with serious attitude problems AND children running around your feet on a Saturday afternoon is there really any point even bothering?
A tragic case.

Excellent hostelry! Anybody looking for traditional home cooked fayre would be pleasantly surprised when served at this little gem of a public house. Pop along there on a Sunday and treat yourself to the carvery. Lovely and at 4.95 it is exceptional value for money. It also serves a superb and varied range of Hydes beers and a great selection of wines and spirits. Give it a try.
