Pub is now closed.
Never got to go in and the place looks like it could have been a fine old boozer.

Closed... not too sure what is happening....but lets not hope that its permanent.

Last stop in Penzance on Saturday night was the appropriately named First & Last. This pub is a fairly cosy place for drinkers. But it feels a bit out on a limb and was very quiet on what should presumably be its busiest time of the week. I was the only person in the one bar. But there were a few more in a lounge. The solitary ale was Keltek Magik, which was quite a nice way to finish.

Well, the news that this small pub which is full of character and characters is open again fills my heart with joy! To be on holiday and find the pub shut when I tried to re-visit was hard to take. Penzance and its people are very hard to match, there are a few excellent pubs there and this is an important one.10/10.

Open again, thank God. Lovely pub and can only go from strength to strength. Please visit the smaller pubs in PZ, we need a break from the standard plastic places pubs have become.

Spent last evening at this pub and I must say it was pretty good. No food on as yet due to the new owners just about managing to open on time. However the beer (I was drinking Otter Bitter) was great. Three other beers on as well as the usual lagers, cider and Guinness. Very friendly welcome and the place has been re-formed nicely.
Well worth a visit.

Good news. The pub has been bought privately and is opening as a free house. Beer is back on the menu. Opens tonight 1st March.

Looks like Brighton Boy, sorry Eastborn Edgit really did it. The plave was closed for some months then reopened I believe by the people who had the Sportsman's in Heamoor. Unfortunately customers who opted to drink elsewhere didn't return even tho the place had a spruce up. Susequently the place is now closed again, anti pikey grills up and fomoured to have been bought for development into flats. A sad end for a once lovely little pub

No frills in this one but beer decent enough. Bays Topsail and another wheat beer which was very acceptable.
|
First and Last is now under new management, rumoured to be opening again Tuesday 16th July 2013 following a refurbishment. Not sure if its been sold or a new lease.
|
....... whilst agreeing with ridleyman I must just add that there is a Christies for sale board outside, my last pint here was on Sunday the 30th June 2013. It was a locals pub dedicated to beer. Lets hope that someone fancies running the place.

Closed.
Future may well be uncertain.

Landlord may be an acquired taste (Lewes accent, actually) but he knows how to keep his beers, I have NEVER had a bad pint in here and he has provided a range of interesting ales, local ones and from further afield. Food is all home cooked, and the landlady is completely charming to balance her husband's occasional naff jokes. I really hope whoever buys it keeps it as a pub, and keeps it a good local boozer.

Paid a visit last Saturday night, nice and quiet, and none of the Wetherspoons riff raff to be seen, both ales on offer were in perfect condition, This place is so safe your granny could sit on her own, without fear.
Another dog friendly pub in PZ

Apologies Ridleyman for being harsh. This was a wonderful pub I frequented for years. I hope somone buys this place and puts it back on the map which is possible if. The gobshite goes, his other half works very hard and it seems everything she does is buggered up by a rather bigotted version of Alf Garnet. I wish this place every succuss. I look forward with many others to coming back hopefully

Last comment seems a tad harsh ! Beer still tastes good though.
Anyway the pub is now up for sale and its future must be uncertain given the current economic climate.
|
Normally a good little pub but of late some clientele going elswhere due to the manager not only being a gobshite who knows the sum total of sweet FA and rather loud about it. His whining, twangy Eastbourne?Brighton accent grates to say the least. Dog appears to have free range of kitchen and bar area which food hygene would not appreciate!!!

A decent, traditional pub with pleasant staff and well kept cask ales - well worth a visit.

Lovely little pub a few hundred yards from the town centre, that still has a separate lounge and bar.Tried a couple of different ales and both were excellent. The home made meals are superb value.

A cosy little pub just a little further on from the main drag and well worth a visit. Beer was excellent and the banter entertaining!
|
Outstanding small pub.
Had 4 real ales on at time of visit and all in in tip top condition. Didnt eat here but the food looks to be very good value. Loos and bar area spotless. Clearly the landlord knows his beer and how to run a pub properly.
|
Enjoyed our visit today and had Skinners Heligan Honey and Cottage Terrier. The other beer on was Bass. The food was excellent value and there was a good choice of 3 meals available Mon - Fri from noon to 3pm.
|
A good ale house with up to 5 ales available. Skinners "Ginger Tosser" was one of the more interesting ales. Beware of The Dog!!!! If He does not know you, he will bark & growl at you from behind the bar.
|
Very much a 'locals' pub. Disappointed with the beer, especially the Hidden ale, which was cloudy and unappealing.

A gem. Well kept real ales (3 at any one time) and a welcoming bar staff. We had a pint or 2 in here and likely should have had more. No punters and off the beaten path.
|
On last visit 24th oct, several quality ales to be had,if the dog barks, bark back. Landlord a right jack the lad.
|
Nice small pub with friendly service and a good pint of GK IPA. 7/10
